Help us tackle health inequalities in Trafford.

Trafford Leisure has an exciting opportunity for a Head of Health Outcomes to join our Executive Team at a pivotal time of growth and transformation.

In Trafford, too many people are still not active enough to benefit their health.

We see the impact of health inequalities every day through inactivity, long-term health conditions, social isolation and barriers to participation experienced by many of our communities.

Through our commitment to Trafford Moving and the Trafford Live Well agenda, we are working with partners across the borough to create opportunities for residents to move more every day and live longer, healthier, happier lives.

We play a leading role in improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities by creating the conditions that help more people move, connect and thrive. Through our ‘Theory of Change’, we focus on reaching those communities who experience the greatest barriers to being active, supporting long-term improvements in physical health, mental wellbeing, social connection and quality of life.

Salary: £53,000 – £58,000 per annum full-time equivalent
Location: Trafford Leisure Support Office, Timperley (Greater Manchester), hybrid
Contract: Part-time (3 days per week)

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and grow Trafford Leisure’s health and wellbeing agenda. Whilst initially appointed on a part-time basis, there is potential for the role to grow in scope and hours over time as additional funding, partnerships and commissioned activity are secured.

The Role

This executive role will lead Trafford Leisure’s health, wellbeing, inclusion and community impact agenda, driving our strategic outcome of ‘Improving Health Outcomes for All’ and ensuring our ‘Theory of Change’ is translated into measurable impact for the Trafford community.

You will be a member of Trafford Leisure’s Executive Team, contributing to the strategic leadership, culture and performance of the wider organisation.

Working closely with our CEO, Board and partners, you will position Trafford Leisure as a key contributor within the wider health, wellbeing and community system.

A key element of the role will be securing external funding, grants, commissioned income and investment opportunities to expand Trafford Leisure’s impact across Trafford. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the future growth of our health and wellbeing portfolio, with the potential for the role to evolve alongside this expansion.

You will oversee health services, intervention programmes and referral pathways, ensuring services are evidence-based, outcomes-focused and aligned to local priorities.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Trafford Leisure’s strategic approach to improving health outcomes and reducing inequalities.
Establish robust approaches to outcomes measurement, benefits realisation and evidence generation, demonstrating Trafford Leisure’s contribution to improving health and reducing inequalities.
Build and maintain strong partnerships across health, local government and the voluntary and community sector.
Lead Trafford Leisure’s contribution to Trafford Moving and Trafford Live Well.
Oversee health and wellbeing programmes, interventions and referral pathways.
Secure external funding, grants, commissioned income and investment opportunities.
Provide leadership and support to teams delivering health and wellbeing services.
About You

We are looking for someone who genuinely wants to make a difference and can turn ambition into impact. You will bring:

Significant senior leadership experience in health, wellbeing, physical activity, public health or a related field.
Experience working with partners such as the NHS, local authorities, Public Health and VCFSE organisations.
Experience developing evidence-based interventions and using data to demonstrate social, health and wellbeing outcomes
An understanding of place-based working, systems leadership and population health approaches.
A strong understanding of health inequalities and prevention.
A track record of securing funding, grants, commissioned income or investment.
Experience developing and evaluating programmes that deliver measurable health and wellbeing outcomes.
Excellent communication, influencing and partnership-building skills.
The ability to combine strategic thinking with practical delivery.
