Whilst in-person attendance would be preferable, this role could be completed entirely remotely. Contract type Volunteer Closing date 30 September 2026 Job Description This role isn't just about "finding people"; it’s about ensuring our charity’s heartbeat, our volunteers, is healthy, diverse, and well-supported at board level.In addition to the general responsibilities of a trustee, the duties of the volunteer lead include the following.* The Lead Trustee acts as the strategic bridge between the volunteer base and the Board of Trustees.* Ensure that volunteering remains a strategic priority and that the charity’s culture is inclusive and welcoming.* Develop and oversee the charity’s volunteer recruitment and retention strategy. * Act as the "voice of the volunteer" during board meetings, ensuring their impact and needs are considered in all high-level decisions. * Ensure that robust policies are in place for safer recruitment, inductions, training and safeguarding of volunteers.* With the support of the secretary, planning and delivery of volunteer social events. * Champion initiatives to ensure our volunteer base reflects the community BANS charity serves.* Supports the training function and secretary with delivery and monitoring of training and its effectiveness. * Monitor key metrics (e.g., retention rates, volunteer satisfaction, and economic value of hours) and report them to the board.* Supports the H,S&S lead Trustee, Safeguarding DSO and Chair to ensure that diverse and equality-based recruitment strategies and processes are in place.* Assists the Chair and Secretary in reviewing and assessing prospective volunteers.* Promoting a highly ethical and robust cohort of existing BANS volunteers, ensuring that observations are brought to the attention of the chair and secretary as appropriate.* Liaises with outside organisations to maintain best practices for recruitment and makes best use of benchmarking and experience-sharing opportunities.* Supports the Secretary with identifying suitable community events, etc., that may benefit BANS through volunteer recruitment.
