Job Description
Position Overview

The Independent Members of the FAW's Professional Game Advisory Committee will play a crucial role in advising and supporting the development of the elite game in Wales.

Committee Terms of Reference

To offer the views of the Members and contribute to the strategic development of the elite game;
To have oversight of the implementation of strategy, strategic plans and work programmes;
To receive performance reports and monitoring of progress against strategic objectives; and
To have oversight of the management and development of the elite game structures and administration.


Key Responsibilities

- Advice and guidance - Provide expert advice and recommendations on areas of expertise within elite football.
- Strategic direction - Provide insight to FAW staff on the strategic direction for elite domestic football.
- Constructive challenge - Provide the right degree of constructive challenge to the FAW staff teams, contributing to the FAW’s strategic direction through the agreement of corporate objectives and key performance indicators and tracking performance again them.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other committee members, FAW staff, and external partners to develop and implement effective plans, programmes and initiatives.
- Monitoring and Evaluation: Assist in the monitoring and evaluation of activities within elite domestic football in Wales.
- Strategic Insights & Capacity Building: Provide high-level advisory input on the strategic development of clubs across the Welsh professional football pyramid. Make recommendations on club development initiatives and performance structures pertaining to the growth of high performing club environments on and off the pitch.
- Club Development: Support and advise on the professionalisation and development of clubs within resource-constrained settings. Offer insight into building sustainable club activities aligned with national objectives and club development plans.
- Player Development: Advise on developments that can be made within Welsh Domestic Football connected to improving the quality and playing standards within the professional game.
- Operational Development: Offer guidance and recommendation on improving the operational matters connected with the National game in Wales.
- Women's Football Development: Guide the implementation of future activities connected with the growth of women’s professional football in Wales. Identify the evolving challenges in the women’s game and recommend points of action aligned to FAW strategies to drive the leagues forward.
- Resource Maximisation & Innovation: Provide guidance on maximising the most of limited resources connected to the development of club environments in a creative and innovative manner.
- Collaboration and Shared Learning: Connect the FAW to a wider network of practitioners, services and organisations that could have value on the development of professional football in Wales.


Person Specification

Experience
​
Senior leadership experience in a sporting environment.
Sound understanding of the different landscape across the male and female professional game.
Proven track record in developing elite football/sports clubs, leagues or performance environments.
Proven capability in managing or advising on club development.
Deep understanding of sports club environments, including off and on pitch best practices. A clear understanding of high-performance standards will be required.

Knowledge and Skills
​
Strong analytical skills and the ability to make recommendations through a data led approach
Familiarity with rules, regulations and governance surrounding professional football would be advantageous.
Strategic thinker
Credibility across both technical and operational domains of football.
Strong network within global football development circles
Comfortable advising at board level and translating high-performance concepts for diverse stakeholders.
