The RoleWe have a unique opportunity for a Protocol Operations Manager to join the Glasgow 2026 team and play a vital role in the readiness and delivery of the Games.Working closely with the Senior Manager, Protocol and Stakeholder Relations, you will support the development and delivery of the Organising Committee’s Protocol function in partnership with Commonwealth Sport. You will lead the operational planning and execution of all protocol services, including VIP and dignitary management, official engagements, medal ceremonies, and ceremonial elements at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.Your work will help ensure the highest standards of professionalism and care are applied to every interaction with Commonwealth Sport members, Presidents and Secretaries General of Commonwealth Games Associations, International Federations, dignitaries, and other senior stakeholders before, during, and after the Games.Job Summary: In this role, you will deliver the operational planning for the Protocol programme, including accreditation processes, arrivals and departures, seating and hosting arrangements, hospitality, and engagement activities for dignitaries and VIPs.You will manage the coordination of medal presenters with Commonwealth Sport and establish strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure joined-up planning across all protocol touchpoints and support the design and delivery of ceremonial experiences for dignitaries at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies and oversee flag and national anthem protocols. In addition, you will help manage daily diplomatic and protocol issues, providing guidance and solutions to other functions as required.Lead on the development of the Protocol Volunteer Management Plan and training materials and support the planning and delivery of the Games Family Services Centre within the Games Family Hotel. During Games time, you will manage the Protocol Operations Centre, acting as the primary contact for issue resolution and coordination with other functional areas to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for senior stakeholders.Key Skills and Experience: To succeed in this role, you will bring high-level organisational skills and experience managing complex, demanding projects.You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities that enable you to influence and build trusted relationships.Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of protocol, especially within the UK and Commonwealth context, and experience delivering dignitary, VIP, or hospitality programmes at major events.Experience training or managing a volunteer or permanent workforce is important, along with a proven track record of working effectively with government and diplomatic organisations.Why Glasgow 2026?
