In just under 400 days, Glasgow will transform into a global hub for sport and culture, welcoming 3,000 athletes from 74 nations, across 11 days of unforgettable action, fuelled by the city’s unstoppable energy and passion.

Glasgow 2026 is set to revolutionise the Games, with a bold, ‘Clyde Built’ experience that reflects the city’s resilience and innovation. This is more than just an event; it’s a movement – a celebration of unity, equality, and sporting excellence. A movement that will not only deliver a world-class sporting experience but will also create a lasting legacy, maximising social and economic benefits for the city and the Commonwealth. The Role

We have a unique opportunity for a Workforce Manager to join Glasgow 2026 and play a central role in planning, coordinating, and delivering a seamless workforce experience across all areas of the Games.

Reporting to the Senior Workforce Manager, you will help build and lead a workforce operation that spans thousands of paid staff, volunteers, and contractors. You will be responsible for developing and implementing workforce planning processes, managing uniform and training programmes, and ensuring all workforce groups are ready to deliver an unforgettable Games experience.

Job Summary:

In this role, you will lead the development and implementation of cross-functional workforce planning processes, continually reviewing and assessing headcount data for all workforce groups, including paid staff, volunteers, and contractors. You will help develop and manage the workforce management system, ensuring it meets operational requirements and integrates with related platforms.

You will analyse workforce data, produce regular reports and dashboards, and make recommendations to inform operational decisions and improve readiness. Working closely with other Organising Committee departments and Event Delivery Partners, you will deliver consistent, high-quality workforce services and support the redeployment of paid staff into Games-time operational roles.

You will design and deliver the workforce training strategy, coordinate the creation of training materials, and manage digital learning platforms to ensure all workforce groups are fully prepared for their roles. You will also implement the volunteer strategy and operational plans, monitoring progress and engagement to achieve programme objectives.

Leading the planning and delivery of the workforce uniform programme will be a key part of your remit, from managing supplier relationships to developing distribution strategies that are efficient, inclusive, and aligned with operational timelines.

Throughout the planning phase and into Games-time, you will act as the main point of contact for readiness testing and operational delivery, collaborating with functions such as Event Operations, Catering, and Transport to ensure a seamless and positive workforce experience.

You will oversee milestone tracking, reporting, and issue resolution, while upholding Health and Safety policies and fostering a safe, inclusive environment for everyone contributing to Glasgow 2026.

Key Skills and Experience:

To succeed in this role, you will bring high-level organisational skills and experience managing complex, demanding projects.

You will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, combined with excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation abilities that enable you to influence and build trusted relationships.

Ability to demonstrate a sound knowledge of protocol, especially within the UK and Commonwealth context, and experience delivering dignitary, VIP, or hospitality programmes at major events.

Experience training or managing a volunteer or permanent workforce is important, along with a proven track record of working effectively with government and diplomatic organisations.
