Role Description
We are seeking a passionate and committed individual to join our board as an unpaid volunteer trustee. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge and skills with regard to safeguarding and a deep dedication to advancing the objectives of the England Golf Trust.
Key Responsibilities
• Ensure robust safeguarding policies are in place, regularly reviewed, and adhered to.
• Provide safeguarding advice to the board and senior leadership.
• Ensure all trustees and staff receive appropriate safeguarding training.
• Promote a safeguarding-first approach across the charity’s activities.
• Ensure compliance with relevant safeguarding legislation and guidance.
• Act as the board’s safeguarding lead, providing regular updates and reports.
Skills and Experience
• Professional experience in safeguarding children and adults.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to advise on safeguarding matters.
• Awareness of safeguarding regulations in the charity sector.
• Ability to ensure safeguarding remains a board-level priority.
• Passion for golf and a commitment to promoting inclusivity and access to the sport.
• Experience in a trustee role or similar governance position is desirable but not essential.
Commitment
As a volunteer trustee, you will be expected to attend regular board meetings (typically 3 in person per annum and other ad hoc meetings held online) and contribute time and expertise to the Trust's fundraising efforts. This role is unpaid, but offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the future of golf in England.
