Job Description
Do you believe in the power of physical activity to transform lives across Surrey? Are you passionate about helping communities become healthier and more active? Could your independent perspective and finance experience support Active Surrey’s
mission to help residence in Surrey lead healthier, more active lives?

If so, we’d LOVE to hear from you. We are seeking an independent non‑executive Board Director who is a qualified accountant to join the dynamic and passionate Active Surrey team.

We are one of 43 national Active Partnerships, funded by Sport England, to tackle inactivity which is driven by inequalities. We believe in the power of physical activity and the benefits it can offer. A mood booster, a confidence lifter, a social enhancer and a life extender.

Less than half of Surrey’s children are doing enough physical activity every week,
and 3 out of 10 adults aren’t doing enough, with numbers rising for those on lower
incomes. That’s why we need YOU to join our Movement for Change.

You’ll be:
* A qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA or CCAB‑equivalent) with recent, senior experience of financial strategy, risk, audit and internal control in complex,
multi‑stakeholder environments
* A strategic thinker, who will constructively challenge and support the Executive
team in the delivery of our vision and objectives.
* A collaborative leader, drawing upon your skills, behaviours and experience to
ensure robust governance and support a high performing culture.
* A connected and passionate advocate for the role that physical activity can play
to transform lives.

We are committed to achieving greater diversity on our Board and encourage
applicants from all backgrounds; we particularly welcome applications from people with a disability or long term health condition and people from ethnically diverse communities, who are under-represented in our workforce.

We’re Active Surrey – we’re passionate about making a difference - and we look
forward to working together, with you, to enable people in Surrey who need it most, to enjoy healthier, better lives, by being active every day.
How to apply
For an informal conversation about the position, contact Head of Active Surrey, Mandana Mehran Pour ( 07974 369 563 mandana.mehranpour@surreycc.gov.uk) or Board Chair, Richard Gray (07970 643520; richardjhgray@gmail.com). Please send your CV and an accompanying statement (max 2 sides of A4) explaining your interest and motivation in applying and what you believe you can contribute to Active Surrey to mandana.mehranpour@surreycc.gov.uk Closing date for all applications: 22nd February 2026 Interviews will be held: 2nd March 2026
