The Whyte Review

About the review team

Anne Whyte QC (Reviewer)

Anne Whyte QC is a highly respected and experienced barrister with an extensive record of acting in complex criminal and civil litigation, as well as non-recent and institutional forms of abuse, both physical and sexual.

She is experienced at handling vulnerable witnesses and litigants. She has also conducted civil cases including human rights breaches, personal injury, clinical negligence and public law challenges arising from criminal cases or matters. She has appeared in various Article 2 Inquests and in the Anthony Grainger Public Inquiry. Anne sat as a Deputy High Court Judge in the Queen's Bench division from January 2016 to January 2022.

Mike Cave (Advisor)

Mike Cave is the Academy Manager at Fulham Football Club and works as part of a multi-disciplinary team of staff whose objective is to support the development of young people in their aspirations to become professional footballers. The Club's Academy includes approximately 180 boys at any one time, ranging in ages from 8 to 23 years old.

Mike's role includes the strategic management of staff across a range of disciplines, in order to ensure its alignment to the Club's objectives, whilst maintaining and ensuring the Academy is a compliant and safe environment for players, staff and parents to engage with. As a Level Four qualified coach, Mike's experience prior to Fulham has included coaching at various professional and amateur clubs and institutions, followed by a move to Performance Manager and Head of Player Development at Fulham.

Before his work at the Academy, he also spent a number of years in the commercial sector working for the sports marketing agency IMG, holding positions within the consulting and media departments.

Tonia Couch (Advisor)

Tonia Couch is a former British Diver who competed at the 2008, 2012 and 2016 Olympic Games during an incredibly successful 12-year senior career. The 31-year-old took up diving at the age of 10 having previously focused on gymnastics, and found immediate success winning her first competition after just five weeks of training.

This early success translated onto the world stage, with Tonia also competing at three Commonwealth Games during her career, winning a silver medal alongside her partner Sarah Barrow at the Glasgow Games in 2014. This success, alongside her multiple medals won in the World Series, make Tonia one of the most decorated divers in British history. Since her retirement in November 2017, Tonia has built a successful business away from the sport and until very recently was also coaching diving to young children. She is not currently coaching.
