In accordance with the UK Sport Funding Eligibility Policy (the “Policy”), UK Sport convened an independent Eligibility Panel to consider Ms Miller’s eligibility to receive Public Funding and/or Publicly Funded Benefits, following her expulsion as a member of British Gymnastics.
The Eligibility Panel found that Ms Miller’s conduct amounted to:
(i) Misconduct within the meaning of paragraph 2.1 of Part B of the Policy, and
(ii) Disrepute within the meaning of paragraph 2.2 of Part B of the Policy.
In line with the powers available to the Panel under paragraph 4 of Part B of the Policy, it was determined that:
- Ms Miller is ineligible to receive Public Funding and/or Publicly Funded Benefits until 5 February 2030 when she has the right to request that British Gymnastics review her membership.
- Ms Miller remains ineligible to receive Public Funding and/or Publicly Funded Benefits after 5 February 2030 until she has demonstrated to UK Sport that she has successfully completed training courses in the areas of: (i) controlling behaviour, bullying, and emotional abuse; and (ii) working appropriately with injured athletes.
Notes
The Funding Eligibility Policy outlines the criteria that Athletes and Athlete Support Personnel (ASP) must meet to be eligible to receive Public Funding and/or Publicly Funded Benefits;
Public Funding refers to funding provided directly by UK Sport to an Athlete or ASP (usually an Athlete Performance Award to Athletes that contributes to their living and sporting costs);
Publicly Funded Benefits means support services or other benefits of any kind funded by UK Sport or National Governing Bodies (for example, access to facilities, medical support, training and development, consultancy fees, or travel and subsistence expenses);
