Job Description: Millfield Prep School is seeking an outstanding and inspirational Director of Sport to lead one of the country’s most dynamic preparatory school sporting programmes. This role is from January 2027 (or earlier if available).

The Director of Sport will provide clear and strategic leadership across all aspects of sport and physical education, ensuring a programme that is ambitious, inclusive and aligned with Millfield’s values. The successful candidate will oversee a broad curriculum and co-curricular provision, supporting both participation and performance, while maintaining a strong focus on pupil wellbeing and development.

Sport at Millfield Prep is extensive and vibrant. Pupils benefit from a structured programme of physical education, regular fixtures and wide-ranging co-curricular opportunities, with many choosing to engage in sport daily. The department delivers a high number of teams each term, ensuring that all pupils, regardless of ability, have meaningful opportunities to represent the school and develop their skills in a supportive, player-centred environment.

The successful candidate will bring significant experience of leading sport within a school or comparable setting, alongside a clear understanding of youth physical development. Just as importantly, they will possess a strong personal philosophy about the purpose of sport in education and the ability to inspire colleagues, pupils and parents alike.
