Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract Type: Fixed-Term (12 months)

Who We Are

Leicestershire is made up of vibrant, ambitious and resilient communities. Leicester City in the Community supports these groups, and the people within them, through exciting programmes with a passionate and dedicated team at its core. We aim to Engage, Inspire and Empower through Togetherness, Respect and Pride, changing lives and transforming communities.

Leicester City in the Community has a fantastic opportunity for an Inspires Mentor to join our dynamic team on a fixed-term basis.

About The Role

This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to make a real, lasting difference in young people’s lives. As an Inspires Mentor, you will deliver the Premier League Inspires programme, working with KS3 and KS4 students who need extra support to re-engage with education. You’ll play a vital role in helping young people rebuild confidence, raise aspirations and overcome barriers to learning. You’ll work closely with students who may be underachieving, disengaged, or facing challenges in and out of school, empowering them to see their potential and create a more positive future.

Key Duties

· Use the power of the Leicester City Football Club brand to engage young people who are hard to reach or at risk of disengagement

· Deliver 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions to support re-engagement in education

· Develop and deliver high-quality, engaging learning resources and intervention sessions

· Support young people to improve confidence, behaviour, attendance and overall wellbeing

· Work collaboratively with schools and external agencies to provide holistic support

· Build strong, trusted relationships with young people over time

· Monitor and track progress, ensuring accurate data management and reporting

· Contribute to detailed internal and external reports

· Represent LCitC at meetings, events and community activities when required

· Identify, report and resolve issues in collaboration with the Inspires Coordinator and senior team

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about working with young people and driven to create positive change. You’ll be resilient, empathetic and able to build meaningful relationships with those who need it most.

Skills Required for Success

· Outstanding ability to engage, motivate and inspire young people

· Strong communication skills across a range of audiences

· Excellent organisation and planning skills

· Ability to work independently and use your own initiative

· Confident in building and maintaining strong relationships

· High level of commitment, motivation and professionalism

· Passion for delivering high-quality, impactful programmes

Essential Requirements

· Experience working with young people in an educational or community setting

· Proven ability to build relationships with a wide range of stakeholders

· Understanding of the challenges facing disengaged or vulnerable young people

· Ability to recognise and challenge discrimination and promote equality and inclusion

· Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection standards

· Willingness to undertake required training (Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety)

· Ability to travel independently across Leicester and surrounding areas

· Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references

Desirable

· HLTA, Learning Mentor or Youth Work qualification (Level 2/3 or above)

· Degree in a relevant subject area

· Safeguarding certification

· Emergency First Aid qualification

You may be required to work outside of normal office hours, including evenings and weekends.

Location

LCitC is based at King Power Stadium, Leicester. Delivery will take place at partner schools and community venues, with some homeworking required. You must be able to travel across Leicester and Charnwood.

Our Commitment

Leicester City in the Community is an equal opportunities employer and we positively welcome applications from all candidates regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. This role is subject to an enhanced DBS check.

A shortlist of suitable applicants will be compiled shortly after the closing date, and successful candidates will be contacted regarding the interview process.
