Finance, Grants and Contracts Business Partner Organisation British Horseracing Authority Salary circa £47,000 Location Holborn London, Hybrid Working available Contract type Permanent (Full time) Closing date 11 May 2025 Job Description ROLE PURPOSE:Manage and coordinate all stages of the grant application process for BHA and related companies (including Great British Racing) to industry funders (including HBLB, Racing Foundation) encompassing:• Equine welfare• People (recruitment, training, welfare)• Integrity• Commercial • Social impactProvide operational finance support for monthly management accounts, PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:• Management of the awarded grants including efficient drawdown of grants and reporting to funders including coordinating KPIs.• Support with the preparation of management accounts including assessment of accruals andvariance analysis and updating of forecasts.• Preparation of supporting invoice documentation for quarterly invoices and recharges.• Support key industry forums including Industry Programme Board.• Lead the proactive management of the BHA’s major contracts including LGC (equine drug testing) and Weatherby’s (Racing administration).• Operational finance support for routine monthly transactional posting, including reviewing VATtreatment and coding before processing through established auditable workflows.• Ad hoc finance department tasks and projects including support of business partners.QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION• Potential to support employed individual for CIMA or ACCA qualification.EXPERIENCE REQUIRED• Experience of:• Managing a grants process including pre-application support, project assessment and reporting, evaluation, and impact assessment; and/or• Preparing funding detailed applications including supporting financial projections.• Staff supervisory experience.• Strong understanding of transactional accounting and reconciliations with attention to detail • Experience of management reporting, budgeting, cash management• Preferred experience with Dynamics accounting systemCOMPETENCIES• Ability to deliver high quality company and racing industry service• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy are essential• Sound knowledge of Microsoft packages including, Excel / Word /Outlook• Strong communication skills across all mediumsPERSONAL QUALITIES• Demonstrable ability to use initiative and be proactive, with a “can do” approach.• Highly organised with an ability to multitask and deal with high volumes of work.• Able to gain an understanding of the wider team’s deadlines to ensure tasks are completed withindesired timeframes, while maintaining a calm demeanour.• Able to identify critical tasks and manage changing needs swiftly with a flexible approach.• Discreet, diplomatic and able to maintain confidential information.• Team player with the ability to work on own initiative when required.• Keen to develop own skill set and knowledge.• Ability to maintain a culture that is in line with BHA Values and Code of Conduct (please note thatthis role would be subject to the BHA staff betting policy that prohibits betting on British and Irishhorseracing).As the needs of the business change rapidly this role will change accordingly, therefore this document should be viewed as guidelines which are subject to change How to apply To apply for the role, please submit your Cover Letter and CV to recruitment@britishhorseracing.com.
