This dual role involves supporting the West Lancashire School Games Competition Manager in the planning, organisation, and delivery of a wide range of inter-school sports competitions, and providing high-quality PE cover across primary schools in the area during staff absences.The ideal candidate will have proven experience working within the primary school sector, hold relevant coaching qualifications or a primary teaching degree, and demonstrate a strong commitment to physical education and school sport.Key Responsibilities:Competition SupportAssist the Competition Manager in planning and coordinating School Games and local sports competitions across West Lancashire.Help deliver inclusive and engaging events that promote participation, teamwork, and personal development.Communicate effectively with schools, clubs, and local stakeholders to encourage event participation.Set up and manage competition logistics, including venues, equipment, schedules, and risk assessments.Support the recruitment and coordination of young leaders, volunteers, and officials.Promote School Games values and create a positive sporting culture.Primary PE CoverProvide PE cover for absent teaching staff in primary schools across the region.Deliver high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate PE lessons aligned with the national curriculum.Create a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages active participation from all pupils.Assess pupil progress and provide feedback to class teachers as required.Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND.Person Specification:Essential:Experience working in a primary school environment.Qualified to deliver PE – either through a Primary Teaching Degree or multiple relevant coaching qualifications.Excellent communication and organisational skills.Ability to inspire and motivate young people through sport and physical activity.Flexible, proactive, and able to work independently or as part of a team.A full UK driving licence and access to transport (travel between schools and event venues is required).Enhanced DBS clearance (or willingness to obtain one).Desirable:Experience organising or supporting school competitions or sports festivals.Knowledge of the School Games programme and its values.First Aid and Safeguarding certifications.
