Job Description
The Senior Nurse will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for nursing services within the UKSI Sport Medicine multidisciplinary team (MDT). The role is central to ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and athlete-centred care across all sites, embedding excellence in clinical governance, safeguarding, and full regulatory compliance (including CQC standards).

Alongside delivering high-quality clinical care, the Senior Nurse will lead the operational management and continuous development of nursing practice within the service. The postholder will contribute to national and sport-specific athlete health initiatives, driving innovation and best practice across high-performance environments.

Acting as the senior nursing representative, the role will serve as a key point of contact for regional and national stakeholders. Working in close partnership with Sports Medicine Doctors, allied healthcare practitioners, Heads of Performance Support, and external providers, the Senior Nurse will help ensure the consistent delivery of world-class care that enables athletes to perform at their best.
