Race Day Volunteers Organisation The Boat Race Company Ltd Salary 0 Location Central London Contract type Volunteer (Part time) Closing date 31 January 2026 Job Description The Boat Race was first raced by crews from Oxford and Cambridge University in 1829 and is now one of the world’s oldest and most famous amateur sporting events, offering an unrivalled experience to the student athletes who take part.It takes place in London on the famous Championship Course that stretches over 4.2 miles of tidal Thames in West London between Putney and Mortlake. The Boat Race is regularly attended by over 200,000 spectators at the banks of the river and watched by millions more on television.Every year, The Boat Race relies on unpaid volunteers to help ensure that the spectators and crews have the best experience. Roles include programme selling, merch selling on Putney Embankment and 'wayfinding' in our Fan Zones right by the River Thames in Bishop's Park (Fulham) and Furnivall Gardens.
