In November, Team GB, ParalympicsGB and UK Sport hosted an athlete creator workshop at Meta’s HQ.
This collaborative workshop showcased how we are working side-by-side to support athletes beyond the field of play, united by a shared ambition: to inspire the next generation and bring the sporting community together through authentic digital storytelling.
The day began with an energising icebreaker, setting the tone for learning, sharing, and creativity. Morning sessions focused on building personal brands and unlocking the secrets to great content. Athletes explored how to connect with a range of audiences from sports obsessives to casual fans and aspiring onlookers, learning how to tailor their stories for maximum impact.
Throughout the workshop, athletes shared ideas and content, fostering peer-to-peer learning and collaboration. The afternoon featured insights from Meta, practical content creation exercises, and sessions on managing growth and safety online. Participants were encouraged to experiment, ask questions, and collaborate, reflecting our belief that learning should be fun, interactive, and inclusive.
UK Sport’s Athlete Creator Playbook was published earlier this year and is available via The Learning Arena for all funded sports and their athletes. The Playbook is a learning resource for athletes to grow their presence on social media. The workshop was a fantastic opportunity to bring the Playbook to life, offering in-person training and practical tips to help athletes build their reach and relevance. Team GB, ParalympicsGB, and UK Sport are planning two additional workshops in early 2026.
