The Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) have launched a campaign to recruit for four new independent directors to the UK Sport Board.
We’re keen to see applications from candidates who will bring experience and expertise in:
- Elite performance sport leadership (Olympic and/or Paralympic sport)
- Major international sporting events leadership
One independent director will also take up the role of Chair of the Group Audit and Risk Committee, which oversees issues of risk, financial control and governance across UK Sport and the UK Sports Institute.
Speaking about these roles Ismail Amla, UK Sport board member since 2020, said; “Serving on the UK Sport Board is a chance to make a real difference. You’ll help shape the future of elite sport and sporting events in the UK – giving our most talented athletes the best possible route to success and, in doing so, lifting the reputation of our nation and inspiring communities everywhere.
This is a unique opportunity to influence strategy and drive change. It’s work that matters – for society and for the next generation of Olympic and Paralympic athletes.
For me, being part of the Board has been a journey of learning and impact. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside world-class colleagues, an outstanding executive team and partners across the sport ecosystem. I’ve built a network that competes with the best globally and experienced some of the most exciting sporting moments in the UK.
If you want to play a part in shaping the future of sport and create opportunities that change lives, this is your moment.”
