Job Description
About Team Bath AS
Team Bath AS is a performance swimming club dedicated to helping local swimmers reach their full potential in competitive swimming, both at junior and senior levels. Our exceptional coaches, driven by their extensive experience and love for the sport, guide swimmers in developing the essential skills and technical expertise required for success at local, County, Regional, National and International competitions. We provide unwavering support, both physically and emotionally, to all swimmers, including those with disabilities.

Our club aims to provide high-quality coaching to all our children and young adults.

Role Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Swimming Coach to support the development of our competitive squads. Working with Liam Willcox, Head of Swimming, and a dedicated coaching team, you'll help guide swimmers toward their full potential in a fun, inclusive, and performance-driven environment.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys delivering purposeful training sessions, building positive relationships, and contributing to the strategic development of a club that values both achievement and wellbeing.

JOB DESCRIPTION- KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Deliver engaging, progressive training sessions across a range of squads in line with Swim England standards and the club’s coaching ethos.
• Support session planning, swimmer progression, and movement between squads, working collaboratively with the Head Coach.
• Assist at local and national competitions, providing on-deck support and technical feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of swimmer progress and attendance.
• Contribute to a unified, “one club” approach by engaging with the Committee, parents, and volunteers in a supportive and professional manner.
• Comply with all safeguarding, health & safety, and equality policies, ensuring swimmer welfare at all times.
• Flexibility to take on additional duties as required by the club.
• To provide feedback on a swimmer’s progress to the Head of Swimming or other coaches.
• To support our poolside workforce
• To be an ambassador and role model for the club
• Follow Health & Safety Procedures, Wavepower, the Code of Conduct for Coaches and Team Bath AS club policies
• Be aware of and understand the pool’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP), plus risk assessments, and provide timely and comprehensive accident/incident reporting
• To represent the club as Swimming Coach at licensed meets, club competitions and other events as appropriate
• Undertake suitable continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to update skills and knowledge on a regularly basis.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

• Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate or ASA/UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming.
We welcome applications from Swim England Assistant Swimming Coaches (Level 1) willing to work towards the Swimming Coach qualification or enrolled on an upcoming course.
• Experience delivering structured training to young swimmers of varying abilities.
• Understanding of competitive swimming and the swimmer development pathway.
• Strong organisational skills, including planning and time management.
• Familiarity with Wavepower and Swim England best practices.
• Current Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate, a Swim England Safeguarding certificate or Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics certificate.
The club can provide information and funding for the 3-hour Swim England course.
Desirable:

• Experience coaching at open meets or licensed competitions.
• Experience supporting swimmers with additional needs.
