About Stockport County Football Education

Stockport County Football Education delivers further education college programmes for 16-19-year-olds in a long-established partnership with the Trafford & Stockport College Group.

Our team of fully qualified teachers, coaches and support staff at Stockport Sports Village guide students through an unrivalled range of study and enrichment experiences that prepare them extensively for successful next steps in education and careers. We pride ourselves on giving students unique opportunities, raising their aspirations, and helping them develop as good people.

Role Overview

We are seeking an enthusiastic Teacher of Sport to join our Football Education team. The Teacher of Sport is responsible for planning and delivering high-quality lessons for Level 2 and Level 3 BTEC courses, ensuring that all students are supported to achieve their full academic potential. The post-holder will foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encourage independent learning, and assess and report student progress in line with organisational standards. They will collaborate effectively with colleagues to enhance teaching and learning, while maintaining professional expertise through ongoing development.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver all timetabled lessons which are appropriate to the ability of all students and facilitate progression and achievement on Level 2/Level 3 BTEC courses.
• Empower students to be organised and motivated to manage their own learning and complete tasks independently to meet deadlines.
• Ensure that teaching and learning is broad, balanced, relevant and appropriately differentiated in order to maximise academic attainment amongst all students.
• Create a purposeful, positive and supportive learning environment, sensitive to equal opportunity, individual needs and health and safety.
• Assess, record and report on the development, progress and attainment of students in line with Stockport County Football Education practices and guidelines.
• Be an effective team member and work positively with colleagues to contribute to, develop and enhance Stockport County’s provision for teaching, learning and assessment.
• Maintain a high level of professional expertise in relation to the teaching role and be willing to undertake further training and development opportunities (CPD).

Essential
• Teaching qualification
• A relevant higher education qualification
• Teaching experience in 16-19 age range
• Strong ability to teach Level 3 sport courses with good/outstanding outcomes
• Tailored teaching that challenges and supports students
• Competent in being an assessor and grading work appropriately
• Excellent subject knowledge
• High expectations which motivate and challenge students
• Understanding of BTEC Level 3 Sport courses
• Ability to plan, deliver and review effective lessons
• Effective use of formative assessment to enhance progress and attainment of all students
• Strong behaviour management to support a professional and positive culture
• Ability to respond flexibly to new challenges and opportunities
• Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
• Motivated, enthusiastic and flexible
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Strong ICT skills, including online teaching and learning
• Ability to work well as an individual and as a member of a team
• High expectations of self and others
• Enjoy working with young people
• Dedicated to getting the best outcomes for every student
