Vacancy: Education and Sports Coach

Stockport County Community Trust is looking for an Education and Sports Coach on an initial six month fixed contract to work within our education department delivering a range of curriculum-based programmes in schools across the local community.

About Stockport County Community Trust

Stockport County Community Trust is the official charity of Stockport County Football Club which was set up in 2021 after the purchase of the club by Mark Stott to achieve his aim of ensuring the football club has a positive impact in the local community. The charity works across Stockport and the surrounding area to use the power of football and Stockport County to make a positive difference by inspiring, educating and supporting the community.

The charity engages with around 10,000 people each year through a variety of education, social inclusion and health and wellbeing programmes, working with residents aged from 5-85 (the current age of our youngest and oldest participant) in a variety of club and community settings.

Purpose of the role

Stockport County Community Trust is seeking a qualified and experienced individual to deliver our schools programmes in primary and secondary schools across Stockport. The role will require a mixture of classroom-based delivery and football/sports coaching alongside a number of after school and holiday programmes. This is initially a six month fixed-term contract with the possibility of becoming a permanent role based on funding.

This is a rare opportunity to join a charity which is developing and expanding, and which is committed to making a difference to the community in Stockport.

Job title: Education and Sports Coach
Salary: £24,500K (pro-rata for 6-month contract)
Hours of employment: 37.5 hours per week
(6-month fixed-term contract with potential to become permanent)
Expected Start Date: Monday 2nd February 2026
Place of work: Edgeley Park, Stockport

Roles and responsibilities

As an Education and Sports Coach for Stockport County Community Trust you will be responsible for delivering our range of school-based education and sport programmes. Working mainly with primary school children, you will help plan and deliver curriculum themed workshops which use football and Stockport County Football Club to help engage children in curriculum subjects and bring sessions to life. This will include education programmes in finance and numeracy, health and wellbeing and internet safety. The successful applicants will also be required to deliver sport activity sessions in primary schools as part of each programme.

The main responsibilities of the post holders are;

• To deliver high quality curriculum and sport sessions within local primary school settings.
• To ensure that all community-based programmes are enriching and progressive, providing physical activity engagement opportunities that are inclusive in their nature.
• To ensure all sessions delivered are positive, purposeful and supportive, and are appropriately differentiated in order to maximise engagement, progress and achievement.
• To develop and maintain strong links with partner schools and to ensure that all community-based programmes are managed in an effective and confident manner, meeting school behaviour management expectations and overall objectives.
• To ensure that all sessions are evaluated and assessed in line with national curriculum objectives, passing all planning and assessment criteria to partner schools and educational settings.
• To keep accurate attendance and monitoring records.
• To maintain strong relationships with schools, managers and referral partners through effective and regular communication.

It is essential to this role that all candidates;

• Understand and implement Stockport County Community Trust’s Safeguarding Policy and procedures including the appropriate reporting of all concerns.
• Act as a strong, positive role model for participants of all backgrounds.
• Display at all times the values of Stockport County Community Trust.
• Be committed to applying and promoting equality, diversity and inclusion through all aspects of the role and workplace.
• Promote the brand of Stockport County at all times and be a positive ambassador for the club and its work across the community.

There may be a need within this role to work flexible and unsociable hours when required.
