What is the role?

We are looking for a dynamic Marketing & Communications Manager to elevate our digital presence, champion powerful storytelling, and strengthen the connection between our work and the people we support, with our donors, fans and community.

What will you be doing?

You will strategically develop innovative ways to share the charity’s impact and manage all content and marketing outputs to deliver against Saints Foundation’s Marketing & Communications strategy and business KPI’s while working with the Head of Marketing & Fundraising to drive innovation and engagement across all communications to position the charity as a leader in its field.

Leading integrated marketing and fundraising campaigns from concept to delivery, you will be accountable for the development of all content while overseeing digital channels and optimising opportunities to use the brand of Southampton FC to support the charity's objectives. You will ensure that Saints Foundation communications are succinct, emotive and purposeful and that the digital marketing strategy grows awareness, engagement and support.

You will lead on all press and PR connections, ensuring the charity builds its public profiles and manage all incoming media enquiries while building strong relationships with local media, partners and stakeholders to amplify the Saints Foundation reach. It will be your responsibility to draft press releases, statements, and key messages for internal and external audiences, as well as support crisis communications and reputation management when required.

Managing relationships with key suppliers, you will ensure they understand our work and we deliver the best value for the charity's investment. You will monitor finances (Including income and expenditure) to ensure all campaigns and content are delivered within the prescribed budget, and records of all spend is collated in accordance with policy.

You will train, guide and mentor your team to help them succeed in their roles with regular meetings, which ensure objectives are in place and an up-to-date and Personal Development Plans are regularly reviewed. You will manage performance for all team members, whether poor or good, in a constructive manner and address issues quickly to eliminate possible disruption to the team dynamic while also ensuring recognition and reward for high performance.

Engaging with project staff and our participants to identify powerful stories, you will ensure participant stories are captured and shared as part of a planned communications calendar which showcases our work, increases advocacy and engages the community.

You will need to be a strategic and creative operator, with the ability to communicate and work with people at all levels of the organisation and to understand the needs of our participants, how our projects operate and effectively communicate the impact that the charity has.


Essential Skills and Experience

Experience in a marketing, communications, or digital content role, ideally within a charity, sport, community or purpose‑driven organisation.
Proven experience developing and delivering digital and audience-focused marketing strategies that drive engagement and measurable results.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt tone of voice for different audiences.
Ability to work independently, prioritise and balance a range of projects, and a varied workload, ensuring key tasks are completed in accordance with work plans.
A strong team player, with experience of line managing others to produce results and the ability to lead a team.
