Department: Sport Medicine and Science

Accountable to: First Team Doctor

Criminal Record Check: Enhanced with Childs and Adults Barred List Check

Hours: Full Time

Contract Type: 1 year Internship (Medical Students Only)

What will you be doing?

This is a full-time one-year internship to provide vital support for the day-to-day operations of the Sports Medicine and Science Department of Southampton FC from schoolboy to First Team. You will be based at the Training Ground in Marchwood, Southampton.

You will be in regular communication with our Sports Medicine Specialists throughout the year to help with the smooth running of the Medical Team, reporting to the Doctors, and Head of Professional Medical Services, and there will be opportunities to help with research projects within the team to enhance your personal learning and skill development.

It is essential to note that we will only accept medical students for this role and is expected that the successful applicant will start during August 2026.

This is a unique opportunity to work in elite sport – develop understanding of MDT in Sport – observe clinical processes and contribute to the function of the team.

What are we looking for?

Essential Experience:

Have successfully completed at least year 3 (at time of starting the post) of a medical degree, but year 4 would be desirable.
Essential Qualifications (including certifications):

A levels
Admission onto Medical School
Letter of support from the Dean of the Medical School
Essential Skills:

Good IT skills, including Excel, Word, Powerpoint
Time management and organisational skills
Task prioritisation skills
