Independent Finance Professional Organisation British Volleyball Salary TBC Location Remote Contract type (Part time) Closing date 16 January 2026 Interview date 25 January 2026 Job Description Organisation: British Volleyball Federation (BVF)Role Type: Independent Contractor (Remote)Contract: Rolling service agreement based on delivery, renewed every 12 monthsEstimated Time Requirement: Approximately one day per monthOverviewThe British Volleyball Federation is seeking an experienced and reliable independent finance professional to support the organisation’s financial operations, reporting, and compliance. This role requires strong bookkeeping skills, experience with forecasting and variance reporting, and familiarity with UK Sport grant-funded environments.Key ResponsibilitiesTwice Monthly• Process and input all invoices and expenses into the Xero accounting system.• Administer and process expense payments following BVF financial procedures and policies.• Typical volume: approximately 20-30 invoices per quarter (seasonal variation may occur).Quarterly• Attend a finance review meeting during the third week after quarter-end to:o Review actual spending.o Prepare and present variance analysis (actuals vs. budget).o Update the quarterly budget forecast.o Support consolidation of financial information into the BVF Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Finance Sheet for board review.• Upload actual quarterly figures and the revised forecast to the UK Sport Investment Manager portal in line with UK Sport grant reporting requirements.Ad Hoc• Prepare invoices and provide administrative support for BVF external funding streams.• Carry out additional financial administration tasks as requested.Annual• Prepare BVF’s end-of-year financial return.• Coordinate the submission of the statutory return to Companies House.Governance & ComplianceThe contractor is expected to:• Follow all BVF financial procedures and policies, which are aligned with BVF governance expectations and UK Sport grant reporting requirements.• Ensure accurate record-keeping and document retention to support audit and compliance processes.• Maintain confidentiality and manage information in line with UK GDPR requirements.Requirements• Demonstrated experience in bookkeeping, financial administration, or management accounting.• Proficiency with Xero (or similar accounting system).• Experience preparing variance reports and budget forecasts.• Strong organisational skills, accuracy, and ability to work independently.• Effective communication skills for interaction with BVF staff and board members.• Must hold professional indemnity insurance for the duration of the contract.
