Job Description
Job title: Senior Communications Executive
Department: Marketing
Contract Type: Full-time with weekend work required. We are open to conversations about flexible working.

The key purpose of this role is to support on communications and media relations delivery within the marketing department and across rugby and corporate activities which enable successful delivery of the club’s business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support on delivery of the communications strategy with emphasis on rugby & performance related communications – supporting weekly communications across all Bath Rugby teams (men’s senior, academy, U18, BUCs)
• Support the delivery of an effective press office function at Bath Rugby as a point of contact for proactive and reactive media enquiries on all club-related matters, including during out-of-hours and at weekend, as required.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to shape rolling content strategies and marketing campaigns and support internal departments including, but not limited, to the Executive, Rugby, Next Generation, Hospitality, Ticketing, and Partnerships, in achieving their core objectives.
• Generate editorial for Bath Rugby publications and content, including writing press releases, news articles, web and social media content, and other external club notices / announcements.
• Support the media operation in the lead-up to and on matchdays in attendance at The Rec in addition to playing a key role in the delivery of match content across web and social, and support with the co-ordination of pre-match and post-match media activity featuring players, coaches, and staff as appropriate. Comfortable in managing mid-week and post-match press conferences. You will be expected to work at a minimum 60% of Bath Rugby matches over weekends throughout the season – both home & away.
• Support on the management of interview, appearance and engagement opportunities featuring Bath Rugby players, coaching staff, and senior executives, at official club events including the provision of briefing documents, key messaging etc, thus nurturing effective working relationships and maintaining trust.
• To support the creation, posting & analytics of social media & website content (templated graphics, social & website copy) across rugby comms (Team news / results / player milestones etc.)
• To be a brand ambassador for Bath Rugby, positively promoting the club externally through engagement with the media, supporter groups, external stakeholders, commercial partners, and the public, at local, regional and national level.


The Team

You will be part of the Marketing, Matchday Experience & Communications team, supporting communications delivery for the whole marketing team & wider business. You will need to have a close working relationship with key Rugby stakeholders.

Suitable Experience

We welcome applicants who can demonstrate:
• Confident in managing media in press conference environment
• Experience delivering on a communications strategy, ideally in a sports environment
• Confidence managing media enquiries and handling sensitive or confidential information, dealing with regional, national, and international media.
• Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and during peak periods (including weekends).
• Good knowledge of rugby union across levels in England
• Understanding of design tools such as Canva or Photoshop
• Understanding of social media platforms and its role in fanbase growth.
A typical candidate will have approximately 2+ years’ experience in a communications, PR, or media roles but equivalent experience gained through other routes is equally valued.
