This week UK Sport is offering you the opportunity to win a pair of tickets to the sold out FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup in Glasgow on Saturday 8 December.
Competing for Britain will be Olympic bronze medal winners Kristian Thomas and Daniel Purvis, as well as Team GB’s youngest member at London 2012, Rebecca Tunney and 2012 British floor and vault champion and 2010 European team silver medallist Niamh Rippin.
The World Cup event will be the first major gymnastics championships to be hosted in the new home of sport in Scotland, the Emirates Arena. The venue will be Scotland’s leading indoor sports venue for gymnastics, netball, basketball, athletics and track cycling. Facilities will be truly world-class and the Emirates Arena will provide a magnificent stage on which the world's best male and female gymnasts will battle for gold.
The event is part of UK Sport’s Gold Event Series, which was launched in November and aims to bring over 70 of the world’s most prestigious sporting events to the UK in order to build on the momentum of London 2012.
The eight highest ranked male and female gymnasts will compete across a range of apparatus. For the men, competition takes place in six disciplines:
• Floor
• Pommel horse
• Rings
• Vault
• Parallel bars
• Horizontal bar
The women's competition takes place across four disciplines:
