International Relations Strategy and Change Goals
In support of our organisational mission, the overall goal of UK Sport’s International Relations (IR) Strategy for 2025-2029 will be to ensure the UK’s Olympic and Paralympic sporting system has helped create the international landscape we need to deliver more extraordinary sporting moments.
This is fundamental to the delivery of the UK Sport strategy – ensuring that we are able to secure key major events bids and that our athletes are competing (and winning) in a safe, fair and innovative sporting environment where they can reach, inspire and unite the nation.
To shape that international landscape and to contribute to each of UK Sport’s three strategic ambitions, we will work towards the following four change goals:
- We have greater influence over and intelligence about future sport, discipline and event programmes, competition rules and qualification processes. (Keep Winning and Win Well)
- The UK is influencing IFs to make their sports more relevant to future audiences and to lead with integrity and a sustainable, athlete-centred and inclusive approach to governance. (Grow a Thriving Sporting System)
- We have the relationships and intelligence we need to reliably secure major events bids for the UK. (Inspire Positive Change)
- The UK Olympic and Paralympic sector enhances the UK’s soft power. (Inspire Positive Change)
Investment into NGBs
UK Sport continues to provide support and investment to National Governing Bodies (NGBs) to help them achieve their international priorities and ensure the UK’s voice remains strong, respected and influential.
