There are high hopes for the men's team gymnastics final following confident performances in qualification on Saturday. Max Whitlock, Louis Smith, Brinn Bevan, Kristian Thomas and Nile Wilson will all need to be at their best if they are to reach the podium to match or better Britain’s bronze medal at London 2012.
Tom Daley makes his Rio debut today in the men's 10m synchro diving competition with new synchro partner Dan Goodfellow. The pair took European silver earlier this year and are an outside shot of a medal in Rio. Daley goes in the 10m platform later in the week.
After disappointment in the 400m, James Guy goes in the final of his speciality event, the 200m freestyle. Having won the 200m freestyle world title in Russia last year, Guy is the best medal hope of the night in the pool, but faces an intimidating line up of opponents, which includes German world record holder Paul Biedermann and close rival Sun Yang of China.
The women’s rugby sevens reaches its climax and Britain goes in the semi final against New Zealand. The Kiwis were the world series champions in each of the previous three years, while Australia won the last women's world series and reached the final in four out of the series' five rounds.
World silver medallist Ed Ling goes in the second qualifying session in the men's trap shooting after a promising start yesterday in which he placed second, while in Judo Commonwealth champion Nekoda Smythe-Davis competes in the women's -57kg.
In rowing today, we will see the full line-up which was scheduled for yesterday, which was abandoned due to unsuitable conditions. This includes the first heats for Helen Glover and Heather Stanning in the women's pair and the men's four of George Nash, Moe Sbihi, Alex Gregory and Constantine Louloudis.
Sailing begins win the men's laser and women's laser radial fleets and RS:X windsurfing. Watch out for Nick Thompson in the laser, who has two world titles to his name, three-time world silver medallist Bryony Shaw and London 2012 silver medallist Nick Dempsey in the windsurfing.
Following their impressive opening victory against world number leading side Australia, our women’s hockey team play India in the second of their group stage matches.
