National Paralympic Day: Prince Harry and The Earl of Wessex have publicly offered their support to National Paralympic Day, which takes place on Saturday 30 August.

Free to attend celebratory events are taking place in London, Birmingham and Liverpool. Additionally a world class elite sports competition is being held at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Prince Harry said: “Through my work with Invictus Games and in seeing ParalympicsGB in action at London 2012, I have seen first-hand how disability sport has the power to change and influence people’s lives for the better. These men and women are not defined by their disabilities, but by their incredible sporting achievements. National Paralympic Day is another opportunity for the public to acknowledge this and hopefully be inspired by it."

Tickets are available on the National Paralympic Day ticketing website priced just £5 each.

Athletics: Five gold medals on the final day of competition ensured Great Britain & Northern Ireland topped the medal table with a British record of 23 medals at the 2014 European Athletics Championships.

Reflecting on the team’s best championships ever, Performance Director Neil Black said: “It’s great to see athletes performing well and converting. A large percentage of athletes with a genuine medal prospect converted and we all saw them being competitive and confident. There were some very impressive performances and I’m just chuffed.”
