Reports to: Chief of Football & Director of Football Strategy

Role Summary: The 1st Team - Recruitment Insights Researcher is integral to the player acquisition process, conducting thorough due diligence and assisting in the building of comprehensive player profiles. This role requires a strategic thinker who excels at gathering, analysing, and synthesising intelligence across various sources—including player backgrounds, professional history, character assessment, and injury records. By delivering deep insights aligned with both tactical requirements and the club’s cultural values, you will support the Chief of Football, Director of Football Strategy, and other Leadership staff in making well-informed recruitment decisions.

Key Responsibilities:
Player Research & Due Diligence
• Comprehensive Profiling: Produce detailed player dossiers covering on- and off-field attributes, ensuring alignment with club needs.
• Analyse procured match footage to agreed criteria and create/maintain a video library of players of interest to the football club and support the with video assessments.
• Background & Style Analysis: Collate the work gathered on playing history, tactical adaptability, leadership qualities, and overall character fit.
• Risk Assessment: Identify red flags related to injury history, behavioural concerns, or off-pitch activities that may impact long-term success.
Player Recruitment Insights & Reporting
• Insight Development: Translate raw data, performance metrics, and background research into clear, actionable insights.
• Reporting & Communication: Assist in the presentation of findings concisely to key decision-makers, tailoring insights to their needs.
• Profile Comparisons: Benchmark prospective signings against current squad members and past recruits to evaluate potential impact.
• Tactical & Positional Fit: Collaborate with coaching staff to ensure recruitment aligns with tactical philosophy and long-term squad planning.
Injury History & Physical Resilience Assessment
• Medical Records Compilation: Work alongside medical staff to compile detailed injury histories, recovery timelines, and recurrence risks.
• Resilience Indicators: Assess physical sustainability by combining injury data with playing minutes, recovery patterns, and durability indicators.
Character & Personality Analysis
• Social Media & Public Persona Review: Analyse social media presence, interviews, and behavioural patterns to assess alignment with club values.

Collaboration & Cross-Department Integration
• Football Operations Synergy: Work closely with performance analysis and coaching teams to ensure recruitment strategy is well-informed.
• Confidentiality & Discretion: Handle sensitive player information with the highest level of professionalism and confidentiality.
• Forward Thinking: Keep abreast of all new technology and methodology related to Scouting and Talent Identification.

Essential Skills & Qualifications:
• Experience in Player Recruitment Research: Background in football player due diligence or intelligence gathering.
• Strong Analytical & Research Skills: Ability to synthesise qualitative and quantitative data into meaningful insights.
• Football Knowledge & Tactical Awareness: Strong grasp of the modern game, tactical trends, and squad-building principles.
• Clear Communication: Ability to present insights effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
