Job Description
This role is pro rata so the salary you will be receiving is £13,666.5 per annum, and the estimated start date is May 2026.

BACKGROUND TO THE POST

As one of the largest further and higher education colleges in the UK, with unique colleges across two counties, we aim to deliver learning experiences which lead to the development of wider skill bases and improved destinations for all of our students.

Our recent Ofsted inspection highlights our success and strong focus both on students and on meeting industry needs. We are also one of only five colleges in the UK to be granted Foundation Degree Awarding Powers by the Privy Council – meaning our higher education academic quality and standards are equal to any university.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
● Coaching, development and training the players of the 16-19yrs Boxing Academy
● Recruitment of players for WCG Boxing Academy, ensuring the highest quality of delivery and performance in Boxing throughout the WCG organisation

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
● Coaching of the 16-19 Boxing Academy squads and of Female Boxing Academy when required
● Support and develop the partnership with local Clubs
● Reporting and monitoring of players progress throughout
● Performance and results of WCG representative Boxing teams
● Ensure quality of coaching and performance throughout the organisation
● Mentor, monitor progress and development as well as guide other coaches within Boxing at WCG.
● Develop and assist a total development/ enrichment boxing offer for WCG students across college
● Develop a 14-16 centre of excellence programme and university pathway, as required
● Develop community adult boxing and mixed martial arts opportunities as requested
● Build and develop a Boxing Club structure from young players to adult incorporating the Sports Academy model
● Responsibility for Boxing Academy budgets
● Support and administration of Boxing at WCG
● Develop training programmes and plans in line with college policies and procedures
● Attend fixtures and drive players in a WCG minibus

Essential Attainments

● Level 2 Boxing Qualification
● Extensive knowledge of Boxing coaching and youth development.
● Well connected and respected throughout the Game.
● Coaching experience at professional level.
● Relevant, updated coaching certificates.
● Experienced coach at Youth Level.
● Demonstrates commitment to youth player development and the context of collegiate sport.
● Knowledge of College Boxing and working to Governing Body rules and regulations.
● Must be over 25 years of age
● Full clean UK Driving Licence
● Mini Bus Licence or willingness to obtain once in post
