Location Cambridge Contract type Permanent (Part time) Closing date 15 August 2025 Job Description The Cambridge University Amateur Boxing Club (CUABC) competes at a high level, including university competitions, BUCS fixtures, and the prestigious annual Varsity match. We have a committed membership base of students who range from beginners to competitive athletes.We are seeking a passionate and experienced Boxing Coach to lead and develop our university boxing club competitive squad, comprising of roughly 40 students.Job Purpose:To provide high-quality coaching to students of varying ability, fostering skill development, fitness, and competitive performance in boxing while ensuring a safe and inclusive training environment.Sessions: Training schedule and matches to be mutually agreed upon, subject to club needs. Typical commitment includes 3-4 training sessions per week during the 8-week terms (7th October-5th December, and 13th January-20th March), as well as competitive fixtures during the season.Reports to: Davod Shah (Club President) for coordination. This does not imply managerial oversight or employment. Key Responsibilities:• Plan and deliver engaging and structured boxing training sessions.• Provide coaching for all levels, from beginners to competitive athletes.• Develop individual and team performance strategies, including technical, tactical, and physical conditioning.• Ensure adherence to safety protocols, including risk assessments and injury prevention measures.• Prepare students for university competitions, BUCS fixtures, Varsity, and other relevant events.• Provide mentorship and motivation, fostering a positive training culture.• Maintain equipment and ensure proper usage during sessions.• Collaborate with club committee members to align training with club objectives.• Uphold health and safety, safeguarding, and inclusivity standards.• Adherence to club policies and procedures.• Stay updated with coaching best practices and relevant qualifications.Person Specification:Essential:• Recognised boxing coaching qualifications (Level 2 or higher).• Enhanced DBS check.• Valid first aid and Safeguarding certificate (or willingness to obtain).• Experience coaching young adults or university-level athletes.• Experience coaching boxing.• Strong communication, motivational, and leadership skills.• Knowledge of health and safety regulations in sports coaching.• Ability to plan and deliver progressive training programmes.• Commitment to inclusivity and student development.Desirable:• Experience coaching competitive university teams.• A track record of increasing participation and retention of members.• Safeguarding certifications (or willingness to obtain).What we offer:• An induction to the role.• Opportunities for relevant development and training.• Support in understanding and adhering to relevant club policy.• Regular contact point for support.• The chance to make a meaningful impact.
