Job Description
To lead the creation, management and distribution of digital and social media content for the League

The Southern Football League is a semi-professional football league, founded in 1894 and incorporated in 1999, serving 88 semi-professional member football clubs. The League is looking for its first full-time Media Manager.

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience)
Employment Type: Full-time 12 months FTC (35 hours per week including evenings, weekends and matchdays)

Location: UK Remote – ideally located within geographical location of our member clubs (the role will involve considerable travelling by car or public transport which will be reimbursed.)

Reports to: Football Administration Manager

A three-month probationary period will be applicable.

About the Role
The Media Manager will lead the creation, management, and distribution of digital and social media content for the League. The role focuses on increasing fan engagement, enhancing the League’s digital presence, and leveraging data and content to attract and support commercial partnerships. This role is central to modernising the League’s digital presence, increasing visibility, and turning content and data into tangible commercial value.

Responsibilities:

Content Creation & Management

• Plan, create, and publish engaging multimedia content (video, graphics, photography, written content) across all League platforms
• Capture and produce matchday content including highlights, interviews, and behind-the-scenes coverage
• Maintain a consistent brand identity across all digital channels

Social Media & Digital Growth

• Manage and grow the League’s social media channels (e.g. Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube)
• Develop and execute content calendars aligned with fixtures, events, and campaigns
• Engage with fans and communities to build a strong online following

Data & Insights

• Track and analyse digital performance metrics (engagement, reach, audience growth)
• Produce regular reports to demonstrate value to stakeholders and sponsors
• Use data insights to optimise content strategy and audience targeting

League & Club Collaboration

• Work with clubs to align content standards and share best practices
• Support clubs in improving their own digital output where needed
• Coordinate league-wide campaigns and storytelling initiatives

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Experience in digital media, sports media, or social media management
• Strong skills in video editing, graphic design, and content production
• Understanding of social media trends and audience engagement strategies
• Ability to analyse data and translate insights into action
• Passion for football and semi-professional sport

Desirable

• Experience working within a football league or club environment
• Knowledge of sponsorship activation and commercial partnerships
• Familiarity with analytics tools (e.g. Meta Insights, Google Analytics)

Measures of Success

• Growth in digital engagement and audience reach
• Strong and consistent media and PR output
• Positive representation of the League across all channels
• Development of a more structured and professional media function
