Job Description
JOB DESCRIPTION & PERSON SPECIFICATION

Contract Type: Self-Employed

Location: Sports Training Village, University of Bath

Working Hours: Part-time/casual. Approx 17 hours p/w but this may vary. The position will involve working some unsociable hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends. The position also includes attendance at Open Meets as appropriate, in line with the competition calendar.

Salary: Depending on qualifications and experience.

Closing Date: 30th May 2025

This role can be for an immediate start.

Team Bath AS is a performance swimming club dedicated to helping local swimmers reach their full potential in competitive swimming, both at junior and senior levels. Our exceptional coaches, driven by their extensive experience and love for the sport, guide swimmers in developing the essential skills and technical expertise required for success at local, County, Regional, National and International competitions. We provide unwavering support, both physically and emotionally, to all swimmers, including those with disabilities.

Our club aims to provide high-quality coaching to all our children and young adults.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

• Swim England Swimming Coach certificate or ASA/UKCC Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Swimming or higher.
• Experience and understanding of Swimming clubs and competitive swimming programmes.
• Experience in leading swimming sessions for a variety of abilities and ages
• Excellent time management and organisational skills to coordinate and organise sessions and programmes, and contribute to the club's broader swimming provision
• Ability to lead a safe and effective training session.
• Will be required to work with persons under 18 years of age (enhanced DBS check with barred check required)
• Positive approach to athlete welfare and a good understanding of Wavepower.

You will be expected to hold a current Safeguarding and Protecting Children certificate, a Swim England Safeguarding certificate or a Swim England Safeguarding in Aquatics certificate. Team Bath AS can provide information and funding for this 3-hour course if you are recruited.

JOB DESCRIPTION- MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

• Act as a Lead Squad Coach in the delivery of squad training sessions
• To write session plans in line with the annual plan for appropriate squads at different levels of swimmer ability
• Ability to provide coaching cover for sessions as lead coach
• Demonstrate a committed and professional approach to coaching and supporting all swimmers to reach their full potential
• To communicate well and in a positive manner to all swimmers and parents
• To provide feedback on a swimmer’s progress to the Head of Swimming or other coaches.
• To support our poolside workforce
• To be an ambassador and role model for the club
• Follow Health & Safety Procedures, Wavepower, the Code of Conduct for Coaches and Team Bath AS club policies
• Be aware of and understand the pool’s Emergency Action Plan (EAP) and Normal Operating Procedures (NOP), plus risk assessments, and provide timely and comprehensive accident/incident reporting
• To represent the club as Swimming Coach at licensed meets, club competitions and other events as appropriate
• Undertake suitable continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities to update skills and knowledge regularly
