Job Description
The Wheelchair Performance Pathway plays a critical role in this mission, and we are seeking a high impact, experienced, and highly credible Head Coach - Wheelchair Performance Pathway to ensure Great Britain remains one of the most respected nations in the world for player development. This includes delivering a world-leading Wheelchair Tennis Player Pathway to support and develop wheelchair tennis players to progress from the early stages of performance competition through to an elite international level, with the ultimate ambition being for British players to win Grand Slams titles, Paralympic Games medals and World Team Cup titles.

The Head Coach - Wheelchair Performance Pathway will have direct responsibility for overseeing and quality assuring the technical, tactical and performer development content of supported player programs within an interdisciplinary performance environment. Within this they will oversee the case management of all programme players via the National Coach Team and will be directly case manage any Elite players.

The Head Coach will work closely with the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway over the strategic direction and delivery of the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme, will lead on the weekly delivery of National Training delivery based out of the National Tennis Centre (NTC) and will work jointly with the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway to plan and manage effective staffing of major tournaments and non-NTC based development camps and trips. The Head Coach will also undertake direct on-court delivery during National training at the NTC, at performance camps, targeted competitions like Grand slams and other ITF Wheelchair tournaments and within specific medal focused events such as the World Team Cup and Paralympic Games.

The Head Coach will also line manage all other Wheelchair Performance Pathway National and Performance Coaches.

• Please note, first stage interviews are looking to take place on Tuesday 17th &/or Wednesday 18th June, via Teams. Final stage interviews will take place after the Championships, on either the 15th, 16th or 22nd July, at the National Tennis Centre.

Key Accountabilities
Team Leadership
• Work closely with the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway over the strategic direction and delivery of the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme.
• Lead on monitoring the coaching content, delivery and effectiveness of pathway player programmes.
• Support the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway within programme activities and provide mentoring support and guidance where necessary.
• Line-manage all National and Performance Coaches.
• Attend and contribute to senior team meetings as part of the Wheelchair Tennis Senior Management Team, taking a lead role on exploring player development and match performance matters
• Act as a senior team member and coach or captain at significant competitions including World Team Cups, Grand Slams and the Paralympic Games.
• Build, manage and maintain strong relationships, internal and external to the programme, to support the implementation of activity across the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme and broader player pathway.
• Act as a selector for pathway programmes and representative teams.

Driving Forward Individual Player Performance
• Lead and advise on the tennis specific technical and tactical content of individual player programs within an interdisciplinary performance environment to enhance and accelerate progress toward agreed targets at each age and stage of the player pathway.
• Oversee the case management of all our programme players by the National/Performance coaches and case manage Elite players.
• Build effective working relationships with pathway players personal coaches.
• Plan and manage an effective staffing strategy for major tournaments and daily training at the National Tennis Centre.
• Oversee and deliver sessions during National training at the NTC, at performance camps, targeted competitions like Grand slams and other ITF Wheelchair tournaments and within specific medal focused events such as the World Team Cup and Paralympic Games.
• Contribute to the design and development of the performance tracking and management tools within the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Performance Programme in conjunction with programme staff.
• Work with the wheelchair performance programme staff supporting the player’s individual performance plan in the tracking, monitoring, assessment and feedback of progress to identity priorities in line with the annual programme.
• Work alongside the Performance Analysis team to determine the key factors in player development, improvement and performance

Supporting the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme Pathway
• Regular planned communication with programme staff, coaches and other colleagues to support player pathway development and activities.
• Work alongside the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway to further develop the player selection process and work with the other coaches to ensure effective transition of players between pathway levels.
• Provide support, education and personal development to the designated coaches active in the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Programme player pathway.
• In conjunction with the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway, support the development, refinement and application of the wheelchair tennis ‘what it takes to win’ framework
• Work with the LTA coach education team to support the development of coach education.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of the wheelchair tennis classification process.
• Work alongside the wheelchair tennis medical team to ensure positive player wellbeing.
• Undertake additional tasks related to the role and to monitor budgets to ensure activity is kept within a specified limit, identifying overspend and taking appropriate action with the Head of Wheelchair Performance Pathway.

Personal Development
• Identify and attend initiatives, workshops and training that further enhances personal performance.
• Contribute to the development of an optimal culture and environment for players to enhance the Wheelchair Tennis World Class Performance Programme and evoke trust and confidence from stakeholders.
• Undertake personal CPD, both formal and informal, as appropriate to meet the demands of the role and continue to challenge and enhance the work of the coaching team.
• Role model the values of the LTA always and act as a champion for diversity and inclusivity.
