Job Description

Field Based with regular attendance to Sport Park, Loughborough
Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the role, some evening and weekend work will be required around events. We offer flexible working arrangements, allowing you to adjust your hours where appropriate to support event delivery and maintain a healthy work-life balance.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Events Manager to lead the planning and delivery of an allocated programme of high-quality national competitions and corporate events from concept to completion.

You will work closely with colleagues across Swim England, the wider Sport team, Home Nations and a range of internal and external stakeholders to ensure events are delivered effectively, safely and to a high standard.

You will lead event planning, coordinate delivery teams, manage budgets and build strong relationships with contractors, suppliers, staff and volunteers. You will also contribute to the development of new event concepts, identify opportunities and share learning to support the continuous improvement of event delivery.

Key Responsibilities

In this role you will:
Lead the planning, coordination and delivery of allocated national competitions and corporate events from concept to completion, ensuring highly effective operational delivery across the event programme.
Chair event planning meetings and coordinate delivery teams of contractors, suppliers, staff and volunteers to ensure successful event delivery.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders throughout the event planning and delivery process.
Ensure events are delivered in line with sport technical rules, strategic objectives and Health and Safety requirements.
Manage allocated event budgets, including forecasting, financial analysis and regular reporting.
Identify efficiencies and secure high-quality services at best-value costs.
Represent the Events team at project and governance meetings, providing updates, sharing insights and contributing to organisational learning.
Assist the Head of Events with developing new event concepts, identifying new opportunities and supporting cross-functional projects and initiatives.
Build and maintain excellent relationships with the wider Sport team, Swim England teams and Home Nations.
Support the implementation of Swim England values across all areas of event planning and delivery.

Skills and Experience

Essential
2 years' working knowledge and experience of event project management.
Excellent organisational skills, with a proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple projects and workstreams while achieving immovable deadlines.
Ability to lead, coordinate and motivate diverse teams of staff, contractors and volunteers to achieve successful event outcomes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and build strong, long-lasting relationships.
Proven track record of achieving positive project outcomes through effective collaboration with varied stakeholders.
Financially astute, with the ability to effectively manage budgets and follow financial processes.
Experience of drafting plans, proposals and reports using insight and analysis to support decision-making.
Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify solutions and achieve results.

Desirable
Experience of working within sport or aquatic events.
Experience of working with volunteers.
