Job Description
About Us
Milton Keynes Dons Football Club, newly promoted to EFL League One, play at Stadium MK, a 30,500-capacity venue that sits at the heart of the wider Stadium MK Group. The Group's assets also include Arena MK, the Double Tree by Hilton Milton Keynes, a 304-bedroom hotel, and a 65,000-capacity music venue the National Bowl, making it one of the most diverse sport, leisure, and hospitality operations in the UK.

Following a change of ownership in 2024, the Club and wider Group are investing significantly in brand, matchday experience, and content quality. We are looking for a talented, versatile Social Media Executive to support the planning and delivery of our social media content across both the Club and wider Group.

Be part of the conversation. Tell the story. Bring supporters closer to the Club.

MK Dons is looking for a creative, confident and football-obsessed Social Media Executive to take ownership of the Club's and wider Group day-to-day social media channels and help us grow the way we engage with supporters, clients and guests.
From the anticipation before kick-off and the emotion of a goal, to player announcements, behind-the-scenes content, sponsor campaigns and stories from across the Club and wider Group — you'll be responsible for helping tell the MK Dons story every day.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands social media, understands football and, most importantly, understands supporters.

The Role
You'll manage the Club's day-to-day presence across X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube, and Linkedn, planning and publishing content, engaging with fans and using performance data to understand what works and where we can improve.
Matchdays will be a key part of the role. You'll deliver live social coverage from build-up through to full-time, reacting quickly to events while making sure everything we publish is accurate, engaging and unmistakably MK Dons.
Away from matchdays, you'll work closely with colleagues across Marketing, Media, Design, Commercial, Academy, Women’s Team, Community, Retail, Hospitality the stadium venue experience to make sure our channels reflect everything happening across the Club and wider Stadium MK Group.

What You'll Be Doing
• Managing the Club's & wider Group day-to-day social media channels and manage the content calendar.
• Creating engaging, platform-specific content and copy that reflects the Club's voice.
• Delivering live matchday social coverage, including build-up, in-game updates and post-match reaction.
• Capturing and creating quick-turnaround photography and short-form video content.
• Working with our Lead Graphic Designer and content colleagues to produce graphics, video and other creative assets.
• Engaging with supporters through comments, messages, mentions and interactive content.
• Finding new ways to bring supporters closer to the Club through behind-the-scenes access, polls, Q&As and other engaging formats.
• Supporting player, transfer and Club announcements across social channels.
• Delivering social content supporting sponsors and commercial partners.
• Promoting ticketing, retail, hospitality, Academy, Women’s Team, Community and wider Stadium MK Group activity.
• Monitoring social trends and football conversations and identifying opportunities for MK Dons to join them appropriately.
• Tracking reach, engagement, audience growth, video performance and other key measures.
• Using performance insight to improve what we publish, when we publish it and the formats we use.
• Supporting paid social campaigns and creative testing alongside the wider Marketing team.

What We're Looking For
You'll already have experience managing social media professionally and know what it takes to produce great content in a fast-moving environment.
You'll need:
• Excellent writing and copywriting skills, with the ability to adapt your tone for different platforms and situations.
• Strong knowledge of X, Instagram, TikTok, Facebook and YouTube.
• Confidence capturing and editing quick-turnaround photos and short-form video.
• Experience using social media scheduling, publishing and analytics tools.
• An understanding of social performance data and how to use it to make content better.
• Excellent organisation and the ability to balance planned campaigns with whatever the day — or the match — throws at you.
• Good judgement and an understanding of the responsibility that comes with publishing publicly on behalf of a professional football club.
• The ability to remain calm, accurate and creative when working to live deadlines.
• Due to the nature of the role a full UK Driving licence.
Experience within football, sport, entertainment or live events would be a real advantage, as would experience with paid social advertising, photography/video editing and sponsor or branded content.

You'll Thrive Here If...
You're the person who watches a football moment and immediately knows how it could become a great social post.
You understand that football social media isn't simply about posting scores and fixtures — it's about personality, emotion, storytelling and building a genuine relationship with supporters.
You're creative and proactive, but you also have excellent judgement. You know when to join a conversation, when to have some fun and when a situation requires a more considered approach.
You'll also need to be comfortable with the reality of football: priorities change quickly, news breaks unexpectedly and matchday deadlines don't move.

Football Doesn't Work 9–5
This role requires flexibility and availability to work matchdays, including evenings, weekends and bank holidays as required, as well as attending Club events and other activities where social coverage is needed.
For the right person, that's part of what makes the job exciting.

Safeguarding
MK Dons and Stadium MK Group are committed to safeguarding and protecting children, young people and adults at risk. The successful candidate will be expected to share this commitment and comply fully with our safeguarding policies and procedures.
The role may be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and annual self-declarations where applicable.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
We are committed to creating an inclusive environment and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. The successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion throughout their work.

Want to Join Us?
If you live and breathe social media, understand football and fan culture, and want the opportunity to help shape the digital voice of MK Dons, we'd love to hear from you.
