What is the role?

We are seeking a Casual Kitchen Porter to assist with all key aspects of kitchen operations, with the aim of supporting players and staff at Southampton Football Club while meeting the high standards expected by the head performance chef.

This role will predominantly be based at Staplewood training ground but will be required to work at St Mary's Stadium to support player catering around match days when necessary. Own transport is preferred as public transport to Staplewood Campus is limited.

What will you be doing?

You will take responsibility for maintaining the highest standards of hygiene within the catering environment, including preparation and service areas to ensure an efficient and hygienic service is provided. This will include cleaning, washing, drying and polishing all kitchen equipment by hand or machine in an effective manner as well as ensuring floors, walls, delivery areas, storerooms and walk-in fridges are spotless.

Checking all stock against delivery orders, you will ensure all items are the correct product and quantity you will correctly account for stock to minimise waste and loss. You will decant all food items in the delivery area and store them in the appropriate containers to reduce the risk of cross-contamination and ensure all food items are stored in line with health and safety regulations.

You will replenish dishwashers, cleaning bottles and wall dispensers with the appropriate cleaning chemicals or sanitiser while ensuring all chemicals are used and stored safely and appropriately.

Working with the wider catering team, you will attend to customer needs in a polite and helpful manner and maintain a professional and friendly environment which ensures excellent customer service while adhering to the highest standards of food safety.

Due to the nature of the position, weekend working will be required.


Essential Skills and Experience

Reliable with flexibility for working hours
Good understanding of safety regulations
A good level of fitness and stamina
A full driving licence and your own transport is preferred due to the limited public transport available near Staplewood.
