Job Description
The Royal Yachting Association, based in Hamble, near Southampton, is the national governing body for all forms of recreational, competitive and professional boating. It represents dinghy and yacht racing, motor and sail cruising, RIBs and sportsboats, windsurfing, inland cruising and personal watercraft.

Job Role: Digital Marketing Executive (Organic Growth)

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience

Hours: Full-time - 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday

​Are you a digital marketer with a passion for search, content and data-driven growth? Do you enjoy turning insight into action and creating content that delivers measurable results?

We're looking for a Digital Marketing Executive (Organic Growth) to support the Royal Yachting Association's organic growth strategy through the creation, optimisation and governance of digital content across web and emerging search platforms.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a globally recognised organisation, helping to increase the visibility, engagement and impact of content that supports everyone from first-time participants to elite athletes, training centres, clubs and members.

Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you'll work closely with colleagues across the organisation to ensure content performs effectively across traditional search engines, AI-powered search experiences and wider digital channels.

About the RYA
The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) is the UK's national governing body for boating and watersports, from sailing and motorboating to windsurfing and personal watercraft.

Through our strategy, Together on Water, we are committed to creating a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where more people can enjoy life on the water.

With over 100,000 members, 1,400 affiliated clubs and classes, a global network of 2,300 recognised training centres and responsibility for the British Sailing Team, the RYA plays a vital role in supporting participation, performance and training across the boating community.

About the Role
​You will:

Monitor and implement SEO best practice across content, technical SEO and site architecture.
Write and optimise digital content for search engines and AI-powered search experiences.
Conduct keyword, topic and audience research to identify content opportunities.
Use analytics and search data to identify content gaps and opportunities for growth.
Monitor content performance and provide recommendations to improve engagement and conversion.
Support the development and maintenance of content governance standards across the organisation.
Work with digital partners and agencies to deliver technical SEO improvements.
Stay informed of developments in search, AI, analytics and digital marketing, sharing best practice with colleagues.
Support content creators across the organisation, providing guidance on accessibility, usability and brand standards.
Manage relationships with digital agencies and oversee recommendations and delivery.
Support the wider Digital Marketing Team in achieving team objectives.
About You
We're looking for a motivated digital marketer who combines creativity with analytical thinking and enjoys working collaboratively to improve digital performance.

Essential

Experience applying SEO best practices across content, technical SEO and user experience.
Understanding of search intent, audience research and content optimisation techniques.
Experience using Google Analytics 4 (GA4) and Google Search Console.
Ability to analyse user behaviour and identify content improvement opportunities.
Excellent web writing, editing and communication skills.
Experience creating, managing or optimising digital content.
Experience using analytics and search data to inform recommendations.
Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Self-motivated with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Educated to A-Level standard or equivalent
Desirable

Experience with SEO platforms such as Ahrefs, SEMrush or Screaming Frog.
Experience using enterprise CMS platforms such as Umbraco, Drupal or WordPress.
Understanding of AI-powered search and content discovery.
Experience creating content that demonstrates expertise, authority and trustworthiness.
Degree-level qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing or a related discipline.
CIM qualification.
Personal experience producing online content, such as a blog, website or digital publication.
