Job Description: Athletic Development Lead
Required from mid-August 2026

We have an exciting new opportunity for an Athletic Development Lead to join RGS Newcastle to play a pivotal role in shaping a high performance, holistic athletic environment.

This brand-new position is responsible for designing and delivering evidence-based strength and conditioning programmes that support the long-term athletic development of students aged 7–18, enhancing performance across key school sports while promoting lifelong health and wellbeing. Working closely with coaches, teaching staff, medical professionals, and external performance pathways, the post holder will lead the planning, delivery, and evaluation of training, rehabilitation, and physical development initiatives.

The successful postholder will inspire and motivate young athletes, ensure safe and effective training environments, and contribute to the wider PE and sport curriculum, acting as a positive role model and upholding the highest standards of professionalism, safeguarding, and pupil care.

Salary: c28k FTE, pro rata 23.6k. The school may also be able to offer additional earning opportunities for the right candidate.

Contract: This is a fixed-term position for an initial two years, which we hope to secure beyond the initial term by showing proof of concept.
