Playmaker Academy is entering a new phase, with a clear focus on raising standards, improving structure and growing the programme.

We are looking for a Head of Academy to take ownership of the day-to-day running of our teams, while also playing a key role in driving the next stage of growth.

This is a hybrid role, combining on-pitch coaching with off-pitch organisation and leadership.

It is well suited to someone who wants real ownership within an ambitious and developing football academy.

The Role

The Head of Academy will oversee operations, standards and growth across Playmaker Academy.

You will work closely with the Director, but will take responsibility for ensuring the academy runs efficiently, professionally and consistently across all age groups.

This role requires someone who is organised, proactive and comfortable leading from the front.

Key Responsibilities

Operations and Organisation

- Oversee the day-to-day running of all academy teams
Manage fixtures, league administration and scheduling
- Coordinate academy fixtures, including organising and maintaining relationships with professional partner clubs
- Ensure all parent communication is clear, timely and consistent
- Maintain high standards of organisation across training and matchdays

Standards and Coaching

- Deliver and/or lead weekly coaching sessions
- Set and maintain expectations for coaching and session delivery
- Support coaches to ensure consistency across age groups
- Ensure sessions and matchdays reflect the standards of the academy

Growth and Development

- Support the growth of player numbers across the academy
- Work alongside the Early Years Programme Lead to build a clear player pathway
- Contribute to the delivery and success of programmes such as development sessions and holiday programmes
- Identify opportunities to create new teams where appropriate

Leadership

- Be a visible and reliable presence within the academy
- Support coaches and deal with issues in a calm and professional manner
- Take ownership of problems and ensure they are resolved quickly
Time Commitment

This is a part-time, hybrid role requiring approximately 10-15 hours per week.

This will typically include:

On-pitch coaching and matchday presence
Off-pitch time for planning, communication and organisation

Flexibility is important, but consistency and reliability are essential.

What Success Looks Like

Clear and consistent communication across all teams
Well-organised fixtures and matchdays
Strong relationships with partner clubs and external organisations
Improved consistency in coaching and session delivery
Growth in player numbers and programme engagement
Reduced reliance on the Director for day-to-day matters

What We Are Looking For

Strong organisational and communication skills
Reliable, consistent and proactive approach
Experience working within grassroots or academy football
Ability to manage multiple teams and responsibilities
Confidence in dealing with parents, coaches and external partners
A genuine interest in building and improving a football environment

Essential

Experience in football coaching, operations or programme delivery
Ability to take ownership and work independently
Strong attention to detail and organisation

Desirable

FA coaching qualification
Experience working with or against professional club environments
Experience managing staff or leading programmes

Pay

Monthly retainer with additional incentives linked to programme growth, player recruitment and academy development.

Further details will be discussed with successful candidates.
