Location: Oval Park Training Ground, Oadby, Leicester.

The Role:
Leicester Tigers are excited to announce that an opportunity has opened up to join the Medical work-stream of our Physical Performance Department, as a Head of Academy Medical.
The primary focus of the role will be to provide medical support to the Leicester Tigers Transition Group that are training with the Senior Programme or on loan and Manage the Leicester Tigers Academy medical staff and work with the Head of Academy Athletic Performance.

The successful candidate will also join a strong team of medical practitioners, with a wealth of experience between them. You will be expected to contribute towards this growing knowledge base, assisting in the development of junior staff, and providing an innovative approach to challenging and developing current practices.

Reporting directly to the Club’s Head of Medical, and the Academy Manager, the successful candidate will lead the physiotherapy and medical management of the Academy Squad’s with daily responsibility of the Transition Group. They will plan the implementation of injury prevention strategies, as well as assess, treat, and rehabilitate those injuries that do occur.

As well as providing pitch-side cover for Transition Group and Premiership Cup matches, the post-holder will play a key role in liaising with a variety of stakeholders, including international teams and loan clubs where required.

As and when necessary, the post holder will also assist in the day-to-day running of the wider Medical work-stream, including the provision of medical support to the First-Team Squad when needed.

Working within a fast-paced and high intensity environment, the successful candidate will need the ability to think on their feet, effectively prioritise their workload, and attack challenges head on.

Essential:
- A current member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapists and registration with the Health Professions Council.
- A minimum of four years’ post graduate physiotherapy experience, with at least three years’ experience within an elite level sport with a strong understanding of the academy and Transition Group structure.
- Leadership qualities and managing a team/programme.
- A clean enhanced disclosure certificate (criminal record check) issued by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), which will also include a check of the DBS Barred Lists, or the ability to obtain.
- A strong understanding of, and experience in the implementation of best practice child Safeguarding principles.
- RFU PHICIS qualification, or the ability to complete.
- An on-going record of CPD with specific emphasis in sports injury management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills.
- Eligible to work in the UK.
 Full Driving Licence.

Desirable:
- Experience of working within rugby union.
- A Post-Graduate MSc or working towards.
- RFU Safeguarding ‘Play it Safe’ and ‘In Touch’ qualifications.
- Knowledge of strength and conditioning principles.
- Computer literacy, including MS office and databases.
