Job Description
Hartlepool United Football Club Academy is seeking a dedicated Lead PDP Coach to join the team and work closely with Professional Development Phase academy players; most specifically the U17s.
The successful candidate will be responsible for driving and delivering the Club’s coaching curriculum, helping with individual player development and assisting with daily Academy tasks.
An ability to adapt to varying footballing circumstances whilst maintaining a positive outlook is essential and the successful candidate will be able to efficiently manage an array of characters whilst delivering high-standard coaching in an engageable manner.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

In summary
- Plan and deliver structured coaching sessions to the Academy players (mainly our U17s), whilst working closely with our other teams in the PD Phase.
- Effectively and consistently identify players who have an ability to progress through the Academy’s pathway.
- Work closely with all Academy and Club Staff to ensure all tasks are complete, including but not limited to admin and logistical.
- Lead and manage all U17s fixtures.


Coaching
- Plan, deliver, and review structured coaching sessions for our U17s teams in conjunction with the Club and Academy’s philosophy and coaching programme.
- Manage the day-to-day running of the U17s and assist with U16s, U19s & U21 teams.
- Ensure the training programme is clearly detailed with careful consideration regarding periodisation and player needs/load.
- Maintain consistent liaison with a daily open approach to the relevant departments including Academy, Physiotherapy, Analysis, Recruitment, and First Team.
- Communicate professionally with players, parents & staff on a regular basis.
- Complete Individual Learning Plans whilst planning, delivering and reviewing structured one-to-one sessions to aid player development.
Reviews
- Organise and conduct two annual reviews (Christmas and end-of-season) with detailed feedback and clarification regards player development needs.
- Provide clear reports with the aim of aiding player development.
Other
- Responsible for Academy sites, effectively liaising with facility providers, coaches, players, and parents/guardians.
- Assist the Club Secretary with player registration and other regulation-bound administration, including updated necessary qualifications as per FA guidelines.
- Be present at community events such as school taster days, open evenings, trials and other recruitment events.
- Other reasonable duties as expected from time to time by the Academy Manager and Head of Football Operations.
- Consistently act in a manner which supports and upholds the Club’s values, acting as a positive role model whilst encouraging and promoting supporter and community engagement.
- To be present at all Academy fixtures and events where required.
- Travel to and from locations including Victoria Park, TS24 8BZ, Durham University, DH1 3SE, and other locations if required, meaning a driving license is essential.
- Develop a network of Volunteers and Interns to help nurture a pathway of future professional talent.
