Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job

A rare opportunity has arisen to join our dedicated medical team at Gloucester Rugby. We are seeking a highly motivated, skilled and experienced physiotherapist to join our performance team in looking after our professional athletes. Gloucester Rugby Performance Department is an inclusive and welcoming environment, providing opportunities for personal and professional growth within a supportive and ambitious team.

Key Accountabilities

• Deliver a high standard of medical provision to the senior playing squad alongside other members of the medical team under the guidance of the Head of Medical Services and Club Doctors.
• Build excellent relationships with all members of club staff (including but not limited to medical, performance, rugby ops, coaching and support staff) where you become a proven team player and ego is left at the door.
• Use excellent clinical skills in the assessment, diagnosis and management of injuries sustained by members of the senior playing squad.
• Travel and attend player appointments with external consultants involved in the MDT management of injury when required.
• Be an exceptional individual and become a proven team player within the Gloucester Rugby Medical and wider Rugby departments.
• Liaise closely with the Head of Medical Services regarding department strategy, direction and further development ideas.
• Provide pitch side trauma cover for senior training and matches when required.
• Build an excellent rapport with other members of the medical and performance team with a positive outlook, energy and excellent work ethic.
• Alongside other members of the medical team, ensure all club medical equipment is adequately stocked, properly maintained and fit for purpose.
• Maintain contemporaneous and detailed clinical notes on all aspects of injury management using the Kitman Labs intelligence platform, in line with CSP and RFU minimum standards.
• Plan and implement personalised injury prevention and rehabilitation plans for all athletes under your care.
• Work closely and build an excellent rapport with Strength & Conditioning and Coaching staff to ensure optimal return to play of injured athletes.

Qualifications, Experience & Knowledge

Essential
• BSc. (or equivalent) in Physiotherapy.
• Membership to a Physiotherapy professional body which holds appropriate professional indemnity insurance covering the care of professional rugby players.
• Current and up to date qualification in Pre-Hospital Immediate Care in Sport – Level 3 (or equivalent).
• Be a good character, with a strong commitment to learn and to assist in the development of others.
• >5 years’ physiotherapy experience working in elite level sport.

Desirable
• >5 years’ experience working in elite level rugby union.
• Post-graduate qualification in a relevant field (e.g. MSc. Sports Physiotherapy/ MSc. Sport & Exercise Medicine).
