Job Description

Main Purpose of the Job

The primary focus of the role is to ensure that both the main stadium 3G pitch alongside the indoor training 3G pitch, both of which are located at the Kingsholm stadium are maintained and prepared to an exceptional standard and are ‘match ready’ at all times.

This includes regular cleaning and debris removal, brushing the turf, infill management, moss and weed control and deep cleaning. Working with specialist contractors to ensure decompaction and testing are regularly conducted and in keeping with the match schedule.

Forming part of the wider maintenance team the Head Grounds Person will also be jointly responsible for the wider grounds and ensuring that they are clean, tidy and free of debris, ensuring the stadium is always well presented both in and out of season.

We are looking for a self-motivated and driven individual who has an eye for detail and values high standards.

Key Accountabilities
• To maintain and monitor the condition of the 3G pitch in accordance with RFU regulations and the standards upheld by Gloucester Rugby.

• To work closely with the coaching team to understand and deliver their requirements for training and match days.

• To ensure that the full maintenance schedule is adhered to and delivered on a strict timeline.

• To monitor the pitch on a daily basis, record all appropriate information and act promptly to resolve issues.

• Take reasonable care concerning own health and safety duties and that of persons who may be affected by the performance of these duties.

• To ensure that all equipment and materials are inspected daily before use and kept in good condition, and to ensure that equipment is available when required.

• To be the key point of contact for specialist contractors required to manage the 3G pitches and work closely with them to deliver expectations.

• To open up/unlock the site each day to ensure that the wider team have consistency and access to the grounds and stadium.

• To assist the wider maintenance team in resolution of onsite issues and to be a point of contact in the event of an emergency on site.

• To form part of a wider maintenance team and to ensure that the grounds and stadium are presented to the highest level at all times.

• A strong commitment to delivering consistently at a high level and with high standards
• Essential requirement of a Level 2 Certificate Effective Maintenance of 3G pitches and spraying qualifications (PA1 and PA6) are required
• Full clean driving license
