We are seeking an Assistant Health and Safety Manager to play a pivotal role in embedding a culture of safety, wellbeing, and accountability across the Organising Committee (OC). The Role We are now seeking an Assistant Health and Safety Manager to join us on this exciting journey. This is an excellent opportunity for a health and safety professional to step into a key role at the heart of the Games, working to ensure every member of our team, every partner, and every visitor can operate in a safe, secure, and supportive environment. Job Summary: As Assistant Health and Safety Manager, you will act as a trusted knowledge hub for occupational health and safety across the OC. You will manage elements of the Health and Safety Management System, support leadership teams, and provide practical advice on compliance and best practice. The role encompasses the management and continual improvement of the Health and Safety Management System, ensuring that policies, procedures, and risk assessments are effectively implemented and consistently applied across projects, venues, and operations. It also carries responsibility for overseeing incident reporting and investigations, coordinating contractor safety, and advising on fire safety and other compliance requirements. A key part of the role is to design and deliver training and awareness campaigns that strengthen understanding and embed a proactive safety culture throughout the organisation. Success in this position requires a strong foundation in health and safety management, underpinned by a detailed knowledge of UK legislation and risk management principles. A NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent is essential, and experience with the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 would be a considerable advantage. Demonstrated ability to conduct thorough investigations, produce clear and practical risk assessments, and manage corrective actions will be vital Given the pace and complexity of the Games environment, experience in fast-moving organisations will also be valuable, alongside confidence in using digital tools and platforms to support reporting and governance. Equally important are the interpersonal and communication skills needed to influence and engage colleagues at all levels, including senior stakeholders and governance forums such as the Audit and Risk Committee or Board. The role demands clarity, professionalism, and attention to detail, combined with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines with composure.
