These newly established roles reflect the club’s commitment to building on recent progress and ensuring our players have access to the very best care and support throughout their development.The Professional Development Phase (PDP) Physiotherapist will play a key role in supporting the health, performance, and welfare of PDP players. The role will focus on the long-term rehabilitation of injured players and be a central point of contact in the management of academy loan players. A key part of the role will also involve the effective collection and monitoring of injury data across age groups, supporting both the wider medical team and the academy loans programme.Working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT), the PDP Physiotherapist will contribute to injury prevention strategies, provide day-to-day medical support, and play an active role in the ongoing development of best practice within the department.Key ResponsibilitiesAct as a medical point of contact for academy players out on loan, ensuring effective communication and continuity of care.Lead on the rehabilitation of PDP players from acute injury through to return to play, ensuring programmes are evidence-based, progressive, and tailored to individual needs.Monitor progress using objective measures and update rehabilitation plans accordingly.Collect, analyse, and maintain key injury data across PDP age groups to support medical decision-making and injury surveillance.Accompany players to external medical consultations and provide clear feedback to the MDT.Deliver day-to-day treatment and management of PDP players, including soft-tissue therapy, taping, and return-to-play preparation.Contribute to squad-wide injury prevention strategies and screening programmes.Provide physiotherapy support at training sessions and fixtures when required.Work collaboratively within the wider MDT to ensure consistent communication and integrated player care.Maintain accurate, secure medical records in line with HCPC, EPPP, and club governance.Support departmental CPD and contribute to the development of best practice within the medical team.Essential CriteriaHCPC and CSP registered physiotherapist.ATMMiF or FA recognised equivalent qualification.Minimum of 3 years’ experience in musculoskeletal and/or sports injury rehabilitation.Demonstrated ability to plan, deliver, and monitor evidence-based rehabilitation programmes.Strong knowledge of injury prevention and objective performance testing.Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team.Excellent organisational and communication skills.Desirable CriteriaPost-graduate qualification or evidence of further professional development in sports physiotherapy or related fields.5 years’ experience in musculoskeletal and/or sports injury rehabilitation.Experience working in elite youth football or academy settings.Knowledge of EPPP requirements and medical standards in professional football.Experience in data collection, analysis, and reporting to deliver evidence-based practice.Closing date for applications is Friday 3rd October.
