These newly established roles reflect the club’s commitment to building a best-in-class environment, ensuring our players are supported physically and holistically as they progress through their development journey.The Professional Development Phase (PDP) Performance Coach will support the physical and holistic development of players within the PDP age groups. With a primary focus on rehabilitation support, the role will also contribute to the planning, delivery, and monitoring of both individual and squad-based performance programmes. Working closely with the performance department and the wider academy team, the PDP Performance Coach will play a vital role in preparing players for their transition through the professional phases.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport rehabilitation programmes within the PDP, collaborating with medical staff to aid players’ safe and effective return to training and competition.Assist in the design, delivery, and review of tailored performance plans, both individual and squad-based, across PDP squads.Apply performance technology and data to track progress, provide insights, and support evidence-based decision-making.Work collaboratively as part of the MDT, ensuring player care is well-integrated and aligned across all academy departments.Deliver gym-based, pitch-based, and rehabilitation sessions where required.Contribute to weekly performance meetings to ensure joined-up strategies across the academy.Mentor and support interns, helping to develop the next generation of performance staff.Maintain detailed and accurate records of player work, progress, and feedback in line with academy standards.Take an active role in CPD opportunities within the performance department and academy.Essential CriteriaUndergraduate degree in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or related discipline.Working towards (or ability to obtain) UKSCA accreditation.Working towards (or ability to obtain) BASES accreditation.At least 3 years’ experience working with developing athletes in performance or rehabilitation.Experience contributing to individualised performance planning and delivery.Strong communication and teamwork skills in an MDT environment.Desirable CriteriaMSc in Sport Science, Strength & Conditioning, or related discipline.Previous experience in elite football or a Category 1 academy environment.Knowledge of EPPP standards within academy football.Experience supervising or mentoring interns or students.Closing date for applications is Friday 3rd October.
