Location

Contract type
Fixed Term (Full time)

Job Description
The Opportunity:
Erewash Borough Council’s Community Health and Wellbeing Development Team is seeking a motivated and innovative individual to deliver a range of projects that improve health outcomes and wellbeing across the borough.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic, multi-disciplinary team that values collaboration, creative thinking, and high-quality service delivery.

A key focus of the role is leading the delivery and development of the AMIE (All Move in Erewash) programme - a borough-wide initiative aimed at reducing inactivity, tackling health inequalities, and empowering residents to move more in ways that work for them. You will play an integral role in shaping this work, ensuring it is informed by the voices and lived experiences of residents, particularly those with long-term conditions, limiting illnesses, or disabilities.

In addition, you will lead on the coordination and development of the Council’s physical activity services, including The Exercise by Referral Scheme, Volunteer Walking Programme, and Erewash Walking Month.

Through this work, you will help create healthier, more active communities across Erewash.

About You:
We are looking for a creative, open-minded individual that can use their skills, knowledge and experience to drive existing initiatives, as well as develop new opportunities to promote physical activity, wellbeing and inclusion.

You will have:
- Strong communication and partnership-working skills, with experience collaborating across sectors such as health, leisure, community, voluntary and statutory organisations.
- Excellent organisational abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple programmes effectively.
- The ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Including experience of supporting volunteers and, ideally, line managing staff.
- A good understanding of health inequalities, and experience of leading or coordinating similar health and physical activity initiatives would be highly desirable.

Benefits of working for us:

In addition to a competitive salary, you will also have access to:

Generous annual leave package – 29 days annual leave (rising to 33 days after 5 years’ continuous service) plus 8 bank holidays a year
Casual car user allowance
Free workplace car parking within the Borough
Opportunities for training, learning and continuous professional development
Family friendly flexible and hybrid working policies available
Option to join the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) plus access to a salary sacrifice scheme for added voluntary pension contributions
Discounted leisure membership at our local sports facilities with the Fit for Work scheme
Access to an employee benefits discount and salary sacrifice scheme.

Please note the successful candidate will be required to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

*The role is temporary for up to 19 months - further extensions are subject to continued external grant funding.

If you would like an informal discussion about this role, please contact Jordan Hedges, Community Health and Wellbeing Team Leader on 07842 231338 or email jordan.hedges@erewash.gov.uk
