Job Description
Purpose
Reporting to the Performance Programme Lead, the Regional Academy Lead will lead the delivery of a high quality Regional Academy programme aligned to the England Player Development Model. The role creates an inclusive, values driven, player centred environment where welfare, safeguarding, and long term development are non negotiable. The Regional Academy Lead will support the Regional Academy (including coaches and players aged 11–15) to develop and progress players through to the next stages of the England Talent Pathway.

Key Responsibilities
• Lead Regional Academy delivery in alignment with national strategy and the England Player Development Model.
• Create a values driven culture that prioritises player development, welfare, and enjoyment.
• Shape the annual curriculum, programme of training, competition exposure, and development activities.
• Support regional player selection using England Korfball’s Talent Selection Policy.
• Collaborate with the Performance Pathway coaches and the Performance Programme Lead to ensure consistent standards across the pathway.
• Support and mentor regional coaches, contributing to a national coaching community.
• Maintain strong communication with parents, clubs, and regional stakeholders.
• Uphold England Korfball safeguarding, welfare, and conduct standards.
• Attend national CPD and contribute to shared learning across the pathway.
• Attend monthly meetings with performance programme lead, providing updates and feedback on regional pathway structures and progressions.
• As required attend Performance Programme sub-committee meetings, and annual performance programme planning meetings.
Impact and Outcomes
• Strengthens the England Talent Pathway by developing and providing high quality regional academy development opportunities.
• Develops and prepares players for international squads.
• Contributes to a unified, values driven performance culture across England Korfball.
• Inspires young players and increases engagement across the community.

Person Specification
Essential
• Experience in talent development within Korfball or a comparable sport.
• Strong understanding of player development processes and principles.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to create a positive, inclusive, inspiring learning environment.
• Commitment to ongoing CPD, reflective practice, and coach development.
• Ability to role model integrity, consistency, and work ethic.
• Ability to work collaboratively within the performance programme structure.
• Comfortable using workplace technology and software (i.e. Microsoft Teams, presentation software etc.)
• Willingness to travel regionally and potentially nationally.
• Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
• Experience within a national talent pathway.
• Experience mentoring or developing other coaches.
• A coaching qualification in Korfball (or working towards).

This is a voluntary role with reasonable expenses paid. The role provides:
• Access to national CPD.
• Opportunities to work with talented young athletes.
• Shared learning within a national coaching community.
• Exposure to performance frameworks and athlete development models.
