Job Description
Specialist Netball Coach (Part Time) - 2026/27

The Role

Netball at Emanuel School sits within a wider educational purpose: to develop young people who are skilful, competitive, resilient, thoughtful and committed to something bigger than themselves. The programme balances high standards of performance with long-term player development, enjoyment, welfare and character formation.
We are seeking to appoint a Specialist Netball Coach for the 2026/27 academic year to support the continued development of netball at Emanuel School. The role will involve coaching across the programme, with scope for the right candidate to focus particularly on our senior teams.
Reporting to the Director of Netball, the successful candidate will contribute to high-quality coaching, player development and team preparation. They will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues, use shared coaching language and uphold the standards expected of Emanuel netball players.
This role requires a coach who understands school sport: high expectations without ego, performance ambition without losing sight of welfare, and an environment that pupils value as a genuine highlight of their Emanuel experience.
The successful candidate will also support other sports throughout the school year, however the primary focus of the role will be on netball development.

Job Description:

Job title: Specialist Netball Coach (Part Time)
Job purpose: To support the Director of Netball in the delivery and continued development of the Emanuel School netball programme, with scope for particular emphasis on developing players within the Senior Netball Teams.
Reporting to: Director of Netball
Working with: Netball coaches, the sports department and academic colleagues.
Hours: 20 hours a week worked flexibly across the year, with actual working times and days to be agreed with the Director of Netball. Regular Saturday fixture attendance is expected, along with weekday coaching commitments, support for pre-season netball sessions beginning week commencing 24 August 2026 (if possible), and flexibility around cup fixtures and tournaments. Occasional Sunday attendance at tournaments may be required.

Core purpose:
• To support the planning, delivery and continued development of the Emanuel School netball programme.

• To support fixture, tournament and pre-season preparation, with particular focus on pupils or squads agreed with the Director of Netball.
• To contribute to a positive, safe and ambitious netball culture in which pupils enjoy the sport and take responsibility for their development.

Delivery of the role:
1. Plan and deliver engaging coaching sessions during games afternoons, practices and other agreed programme commitments.
2. Coach across the netball programme, with potential to focus on senior teams as agreed with the Director of Netball.

4. Support pre-season netball sessions beginning week commencing 24 August 2026.
5. Attend Saturday fixtures along with cup or regional tournaments, including occasional Sunday attendance where required.
6. Contribute to fixture preparation, selection discussions and post-match review, while final selection decisions remain with the Director of Netball and relevant team leads.
7. Develop and maintain agreed coaching language, behaviours and expectations across the programme.
8. Communicate professionally with pupils, colleagues and parents.
9. Provide coaching support to younger netball age groups.
10. Where agreed, support the development, marketing and delivery of specialist netball camps during school holidays. This would be at an additional rate to be agreed.
11. Ensure sessions are safe, age-appropriate and compliant with school policies, including the reporting of welfare, safeguarding, injury or conduct concerns.
